D is starting at UCLA in fall. Any recommenations on best Bank/Credit Union to open an account for UCLA. Chase, BofA, Wells, etc.

For what it’s worth, Chase is the only bank with an ATM in the dorm area.

There is a credit union on campus: University Credit Union. They have a couple of ATMs at the dorms and other ATMs around campus. They have the only bank branch on campus. Convenient in Ackerman Union. Nice people working there. I like their checking, too.

False, there is a Wells Fargo ATM in Sproul Hall.

And a University Credit Union one in DeNeve.

But my experience with Bank of America has been quite good.

I like Chase personally. I’ve never had any problems with them.

Our long-time bank did not have an ATM at Ackerman so we had DS open up a student account with Chase which does have an ATM at Ackerman. I think he hardly ever uses it as he rarely has a need for cash. He either charges directly to his Bruin card or to his credit card for any purchases. When he comes home for the holidays we give him spending cash and he doesn’t seem to go through it. There was one time I think when he and some friends went out for a group dinner and he charged it to his credit card, receiving reimbursement from everyone else and one friend wrote him a check, which he deposited at the Chase ATM at Ackerman. There may have been another time when he withdrew cash to pay for a ticket to an event that a club that he is a member of was hosting.
