This seems like it's not a big deal, but I get tired after math and reading and science are the most draining in my opinion. Any ideas on what to eat? (:

Powerbars and peppermints for me.

I always give my kids red grapes after having to send them in for the whole 4th grade class before some kind of state testing!

The most important thing is to eat well the night and morning before the test. Athletes have been carbo-loading for years, so why shouldn’t we take our academic performance just as seriously? Nutrition during the test can be broken down into two categories: nutrition and stimulation. Nutrition is for your stomach, it means power bars (Nature Valley is my favorite), bananas if you can sneak them and anything else that you think will fill you up without causing a mess. Stimulation is about your brain. Often a little gum to chew will help you stay engaged better than an empty, smelly mouth. Frankly I have always preferred Jolly Ranchers as my stimulant. The slow drip-feed of sugar into my system is perfect to keep me from dozing off, and the fact that it’s spread over such a relatively long period of consumption means that the effect is less cyclical than the quick rush and successive crash of chewy candies. If you have a tendency to freak out and go berserk on stressful tests you might want to stick with sugar-free gum or nothing at all, but if (like me) you tend to fall asleep when testing, the sugar may prove more beneficial. Most importantly, make sure that what you eat is something you like and that it doesn’t get in you or anyone else’s way.

Chew some gum or eat a Jolly Rancher during the test.

During break, go for a granola bar or a decent size apple. Drink some water and if you want, package some chicken nuggets.

I ate bagels, since they are carbohydrates. :D
