<p>Does anyone know how easy it is to qualify for this scholarship if we are semifinalists for the Sam Walton scholarship? Do they judge based on similar criteria or put more emphasis on something else?</p>
<p>This one does not take into account financial need, and I heard it focuses more on community service involvement.</p>

<p>Well I have a TON of community / volunteer hours, so I wasn’t totally sure they’d believe me. 
I’ve been on about 5 missions trips which account for probably 600-700 hours because one of them was a month long and the others were about 10 days each. But I found a spelling error - not super obvious, but an error - on the copy of the application I saved to my computer. And a lot of times they throw out applications with little errors in the first rounds of reviewing… so I’m kind of worried.</p>
<p>I doubt a spelling error will make them throw you out completely. The website says scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, volunteerism efforts and work experience. Nope not spelling 
Anyone know how much weight they put to each category?</p>
<p>i think volunteerism is weighted the most, then academics in a close second (but you wouldnt have to be like straight As to get it)</p>
