Best Buy Scholarship for 2013

I guess I didn’t get it then… 4.0 GPA and 600 hours…

Good job to @bevward and @Arithmetis! Looks like you are the only ones on this thread so far that got it. Do you mind posting your stats (GPA, SAT, hours) please? It would really help future applicants gauge their chances for this scholarship.

It seems as if recipients on the West Coast are being notified first? Have you guys searched for other recipients through social media statuses such as on Twitter or Tumbler?

It just seems a little strange that only three people on this thread got the scholarship. Maybe I’m being a bit too hopeful, but I think there may be more emails on the way. Congratulations to those who have found out that they’re recipients though!

Good point, Asia. There are 1,100 winners but only 3 won on the CC thread.

I hope you’re right Asia! :)

My daughter’s stats sound pretty similar to what others are posting on here, so I am not sure what they are looking for. 3.99 GPA, 650+ service hours, no SAT yet because she is a sophomore. It might depend who else applied at “your” store. Sorry to not be much help, but I didn’t want to ignore the requests so I posted what I could.

My son has not received any email (yet hopefully…).
He is with a 3.98 GPA, 1250 volunteer hours
I am also wierded out with the fact that only 3 people have recieved the email so far from CC out of 1100. Maybe they are sending it out till midnight? I tried calling customer service and they were NO help at all (but what did I expect…lol).
whatever. Next year it is I guess.

I guess I didn’t get it? lol

My daughter received an email around 4pm that she is a provisional recipient. We are in Texas. She is a senior and had a a lot of community service and community programs that she started.

Three year in a row I applied for this scholarship. I don’t get how I’m a Nordstrom Scholarship National Winner and Coco Cola Scholarship finalist, and get rejected by Best Buy each year. I really want to know what they look at. ._. I have 500+ community service hours, am involved in a lot of clubs, am a state officer for one of them. Same rejection every year :/

My daughter received notification that she is a provisional recipient today at 5:03. We live in NC. She is a freshman with a GPA of 4.625. She has well over 1000 hours of community service as she hosts an annual fundraiser for various children’s organizations.

Congrats :)

I got it last year. Not too much money though to pay for my 61,800 school. It’s not even worth that much :frowning: ohh well
Congrats to this years provisinal finalists.

Congratulations to all of the winners. I look forward to seeing the accomplishments of those who won!

Kinda upset that I haven’t seen anything, but congrats to everyone who did receive it. You deserve it!

It will be interesting to see the Community hours and GPA stats to get an idea.

Congratulations to those of you who received notification of provisional recipient! It would be great if you would share your stats and accomplishments.

I got my email a couple of days ago saying I was a recipient of the scholarship. Just for reference for you guys trying to figure out stats and stuff these were mine. Gpa: 3.95, didn’t put my SAT (I don’t think…) But if the ACT was an option I got a 29, 400+ hours volunteering at an animal shelter, about 200+ volunteering with a donor/hospital organization, and about 200+ more hours for other various volunteer work. Babysitting job for 5 years, working at a museum for a year, and I believe that’s all I put. I don’t exactly remember what else was in the application, but yeah. Congrats to everyone else who got the scholarship, and for those who didn’t, I’m sure you’ll get plenty of scholarships in the near future! And don’t forget, there’s always next year! :)

Junior from Maryland here. Sorry about being late, I just saw this post. I was selected as a provisional recipient. Stats: 3.7 GPA, 710CR/610M SAT (did not ask for writing), 1552 community service hours over the past 4 years, numerous school activities.

Also, I had a 3 month summer job on my app with 40 hours/week.
