I have a TI-84 Plus SE. It works great.

The new TI-Nspires are incredible, but I’m sure they will be restricted on tests.

Hm i guess i will get a 84 for now and if i need for later, (more like in 4-6 years) I will buy a 89. Anyway what is so good about the nspire?

It has a bigger screen.

Buy the 84. It has better hardware then the 83 (which can be a factor when using it for calculus related functions), and it might have more features. The 89 is still banned in a lot of places that don’t want you using CAS.

Nthoing else good about the nspire?

Why the brandism ? Go for the HP 50G.

I have the TI 84 Silver and it’s great. You don’t need a better calculator for HS math.

Because all of your teachers will know exactly how to use the TI (to a certain degree). Instructions for TI use are also much more readily available.

Definitely go with a TI. 83 or 83 doesn’t matter too much.

Because they’re the same, duh.

;)

89s are overrated, especially for AP Calculus. It was a little odd because I was the only one in my school that did not use an 89 on the AP exam (our school provides them for us). I just don’t see any real benefit in them.

My favorite, TI 83+ silver. It’s extremely fast. But i think it’s discontinued now…the reason why i dont own one.

I have a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition as well. It’s a great calculator.

I hate people who use TI-89s. They do all the work for you, and you don’t learn a damn thing about calculus. TI-84 can integrate and differentiate – but graphically, not symbolically like on the TI-89. The 84 does the algebra of calculus for you; the 89 does the calculus of calculus. Hence you do nothing.

The choice is clear.

WHats good about the HP 50?

The most significant thing about the TI-Nspire is that it uses an ARM processor.

DATAMATH

Anyway, the TI-84 should work fine. It is very easy to work with and program.

What is so good about the HP 50?

What’s so good about TI’s? Don’t know RPN? Learn it. Yes, the power of the human brain… Anyways, OP it’s your choice. And it’s only Calculus…in HS…don’t go overboard. TI 83/84/89 or any reliable HP is good enough. Only rely on your calculator when you have to.

Ti-84 Plus Silver definitely.

TI-Nspires are pretty cool as well though.

The calculator you purchase should be contingent upon the leniency of your teachers. If they don’t care what type of calculator you use, definitely buy the TI-NSpire CAS. Like the TI-89, the CAS has a built-in computer algebra system, but also includes many improvements over it’s predecessor.

I have a TI-84, TI-89, and TI-Nspire(I didn’t buy any of them so don’t freak out about having more than one calculator). The 89 is my favorite by far =)

For what it’s worth, TI-89 is banned in Academic Decathlon. So is TI-86, but nobody seems to want you to use that.

oops. meant 83 or 84.
