I am currently choosing to switch plans to a new mobile data plan. I am leaning towards Sprint but I am not sure if it will get good signal in the campus. Since I am a incoming freshman, I will probably placed in the Northern Campus, so what is the best cell phone service provider on the Northern Campus??
Any carrier is fine now. When I was living in North Campus more than 10 years ago, Sprint really sucked. We have been using T-mobile for more than 10 years and the signal has improved a lot particularly after 4G.
I have had pretty reliable service with Verizon on basically every part of campus.
My kiddo lived on North and uses AT&T. No problems.
All 4 are good on Campus. Sprint currently has the best international roaming plans (e.g. for a semester abroad). Make sure to get a carrier with wifi calling because none of them have good service in the interior and below ground floors of some of the campus buildings (e.g. libraries) . Wifi calling (and wifi in general) will save you a lot of battery life.
You will use practically no data as a student because you will be on wifi 90% of the time. At football games I found T-mobile to be the only carrier that has some connectivity (depending on your seats) inside the stadium. Outside they all work OK.
In Ann Arbor outside of campus and downtown , T-mobile, ATT, and Verizon are all good. Sprint is slow.
