Best colleges for bio?

What are the best schools for an intended bio major (emphasis on molecular bio possibly)? I’m looking for a school that is flexible, and don’t want to spend a lot of time taking required classes. I like the idea of going to an LAC but don’t have to. My “dream school” would probably be Dartmouth or Middlebury, but both are a reach for anyone. Not a big fan of Midd’s location either.

Also, my major in college might change so I want to go to a college that is strong in many different academic areas like economics, languages, etc.

For colleges with notably flexible curricula, look into Amherst, Hamilton, Grinnell, Brown and, if female, Smith.

@merc81 thank you!

Some of those are reaches for anyone!

Sounds like any good LAC will fit the bill. It is true that some require more gen ed courses than others, but those often are a good way to explore other disciplines.

Haverford is a LAC with strong molecular.

URochester has an open curriculum and is strong in science. It feels very much like an LAC.
