I’m going to be attending NC State as a freshmen this fall for first year Engineering. I was wondering what are the best dorms for freshmen on campus.
Same, has anyone done the housing application yet? I don’t know which ones are the best to put on the application.
@annamanna I filled out the application yesterday and I put North Hall, Metclaf(?) and Carrol. North Hall is hotel style and the other two are suite style with Theo showers and two toilets per 8 people. The other options weren’t the best but Avent Ferry is similar to North Hall
@virgokid99 I’m narrowing between Carroll, Owen, and Tucker. I personally liked avent ferry the most but the problem with that is that it’s a little farther away from central campus and not as many freshman live there. I think I’d feel more comfortable being close to campus and with freshman. Also, I’m not sure whether I’d prefer Suite style vs. hall. I’ve heard suites are smaller but then again your sharing a bathroom with less people and I’m not sure I can deal with a community bathroom…
My daughter lived in Bowen her freshman year, which is one of the 3 towers beside Metcalf. She loved the suite style with a more private bathroom, It is also within 30 feet of the Tucker/Owen dorms. She said that many of her friends had to leave Tucker/Owen just to be able to hear themselves think and to study. She was among many freshman at Bowen, but their building overall had much less complaints. She heard a lot of unhappy freshman say they regretted the hall-style and noise level at T/O, but it was too late to switch mid semester. The towers are a great middle ground for freshman and you are still in the middle of everything!
