I live in Warren and how loud a floor is depends on what floor you live. My floor is really quiet and I have no concerns regarding noise whatsoever. Seriously it feels like a library and sometimes I wonder if I'm the only resident on the floor. I've heard stories from other friends saying how their floors are so loud and have a hard time studying/doing homework. Nevertheless, Warren is a good choice for incoming freshmen.

Hi, im curious about how the process works for current Frosh who will be living on campus next year? I know there is a lottery # & appt. time assigned. Do they show up and say, I want that room-and if its available its their's on the spot? Or.. do they submit a request and list maybe 3 choices then get notifed of the room assigment during the summer? (sort of like Frosh year) Also, if they want 1019 -do they need to find all 6 of the ppl and fill the suite? My DS is a current Frosh at BU and not too good with the communication, he must be too busy studying? lol Thanks for the info!

you have to know where you want to live before going in. your son and whoever he wants to live with, whether its 2 or 6 people, will choose whoever has the best lottery number with the soonest appointment time and all go together. its chosen there on the spot (they say where they want to live and the comp;uter searches for availability), so if they want 1019, a) they don't need 6 people (if there's only 3 of them they can choose to take 3 of the spots in a 6 person room and the other 3 people will be random) and b) they should choose as soon as possible and make sure they want where they're living and should come with back-up plans. freshman numbers make it almost impossible to get 1019, unless your son has a friend who's a year older, he might want to use myles and even freshman dorms as back-up plans, because once you're assigned a room in the meeting you can't change it and are stuck with that room. the only option then is summer swap where they may be able to switch into another room.

scroll down. i think that room is a renovated one. cinderblock wall? i think so (sigh)

yup, that's it. it looks crappier than it actually is in that picture though, especially since no one piles every bit of furniture under their beds or puts their ladders in the middle of the room, but they're not cinderblock its just like a solid wall

You can move furniture around? No cinderblock wall?

woot! :)

hahah yes you can! the furniture is, fortunately, not screwed into the ground, and there's no need for rack raiser's since the med moves up and down on the actual bed posts!

Which dorms have the beds raised (like the ones in this pic Boston University Housing )? Also, if a dorm has a normal bed (closer to the ground) what type of risers can you buy to raise it? How high do risers go, a few inches or a few feet? Thanks.

you have to buy rack raisers somewhere separate and they can go anywhere from 6 inches to a little less than 2 feet
the only dorms i know of with raised beds are towers and hojo (aka 575 commonwealth)

movable furniture = unique room layouts. haha i wonder how each person's room looks like

its very interesting to see the set-ups people come up with :-D

there's a LOT you can do with the furniture in towers

beds are also raised in the triples in quads in west and warren

oh yes i forgot about those! but isn't it like 2 beds are raised with desks underneath and 2 are bunk beds with desks in the middle? at least in a quad i mean

thanks for this info.

Yeah, I think you're write about quads.

oh... one more question to AliAngel in regards to your response when you say bunk beds does that mean real bunk beds, one bed on top/one below, or just one bed on top and nothing below it.

er...I think you're right.

2 beds with one on top & nothing below, and 2 beds that are legit bunk beds

i'm kinda excited to live in towers next year (that is, if i get in). haha weird..

i lived in a quad in warren. you can get EXTREMELY creative with the furniture in those rooms. by the end of the year we had figured out a way to push all the furniture to the outer walls so we would have the entire center of the floor open. it was awesome.
