Is it true that CMU is mostly known for its computer science and computer engineering programs? I checked on collegeboard and it said that CMU doesnt offer an electrical engineering course. Would it be wise to study other types of engineering at CMU other than computer?

well CB is mad!!...cmu has an ECE program which comes under Carnegie Instiitute of Tech....i have applied to it!!....:)

How about other types of engineering at CMU... is it as well respected as its computer science course?

yes it's ECE=electrical and computer engineering together as one. If I'm not mistaken you apply to ECE separately from other engineering...it's more selective than the other engineering majors and higher ranked. Any engineering at CMU is highly regarded but not ranked as high as ECE.

One great thing CMU offers: all you need is a 3.0 and you can get your masters in ECE in just one year. Last year of the 98 ECEs who went on to grad school, 65 stayed right at CMU for their masters.

Any engineering major at CMU is highly sought after. You can check the avg salaries at the career center of CMU's site. ECE is a bit harder to get into than regular CIT and it is just about as good as SCS.
