The title says it all; which schools have historically the best honors programs in terms of education quality/exclusivity/teacher contact/etc?

I would say UT has a good record of providing some of the best honors programs especially Plan II

ASU, UT, Penn State come to mind.

I second reapthenightmare.

Both Plan II and the Business Honors programs are absolutely stellar.

Thanks for the help, Any other opinions?

macaulay honors (for cuny)

The Pennsylvania State University in Happy Valley

University of Michigan Honors College

Penn State Shreyers... they reject kids that get into ivies. it's really competitive.

ASU has always been one of the leading institutions as far as honors colleges go: one of the first to have one, and they've been able to, through really generous scholarships, draw a lot of top kids to the program. I know it's improved since, but my Chem teacher was an ivy-type student from Montana about 8 years ago, but chose ASU.

This thread has a lot of input about different honors programs. It's very recent, just started this month.

I don't know how it compares to all of the other honors programs, but I've heard great things about the University of Minnesota Honors College.

Traditionally, Penn State has one of the best in the country. But most top schools that have honors programs will be pretty good. One thing that's nice about UCLA's is that they don't separate us from the general school, so we're housed with everyone else and take pretty much the same classes, just with honors-level tests and honors seminars and whatnot.

I've also heard UNC has a very reputable one...
