Best housing for non-honor students

i was just accepted to ASU  and and am probably going to attend in the fall. i know that there is a thread on here about honors housing. but what about non-honors? any suggestions?

also does anyone have any opinions on the concierge program offered in the dorms?

Well, it really depends on what side of campus you want to be on.... there is housing north campus (by the stadium and arena), south campus (in my opinion, really far out there), and then Hassayampa and the honors complex which are both pretty close to the center of campus. I'm a freshman right now and I am in San Pablo, which in my opinion is the best dorm on campus. Its fairly new and there are very few issues here with stuff like a/c, heating, and water like there are in some of the other dorms. Its also pretty close to where all the public transportation buses stop if your going to be without a car, using the free bus pass offered to ASU students.

Honestly, I would avoid Manzanita and some of my friends say that Sahuaro is pretty bad also.

As for the concierge program, I would avoid it. Honestly, people tell me its just a waste of money. I've heard a lot about peoples laundry being ruined and rooms not being cleaned when they're supposed to. If you want, you can add on just one of their services, like the water delivery, when you check in August.

If you have any questions, let me know... I'll try to answer them with what I know.

Wow thanks for the info! thats very helpful. i took a tour of the campus in november and was lucky enough to get to see the dorms in Palo Verde East and Hassayampa. Palo Verde was ok, typical dorm room. Hassayampa was a lot nicer, obviously because its new. and of course i have heard bad things about manzanita and to steer clear. but i think im going to pick hassayampa and san pablo as my top choices. as ive heard good things about both

oh yeah and thanks for the info about the concierge. haha i wouldnt let them wash my clothes anyways.

So how do you like asu? if you're from out of state, is it hard living in another state? im from northern california so arizona isnt a huge move for me but still. luckily i do have some family there that are like 1 hour away which is always nice.

I like ASU so far... I'm an out of state student (from southern Nevada). It's not that much of a difference for me since I've lived in the desert most of my life. I don't have any family here, but I'm pretty familiar with the area since my family does come to Phoenix a lot on vacations and stuff.

Yeah, i also visit Arizona quite a lot to visit. I really enjoy it when i visit so I hope i will also enjoy goign to school there.

What meal plan do you have and which do you suggest? im trying to decide which one to choose. for me, its either between Meal Plan A (all access 7 days plus $200) or Meal Plan C (200 meals per semester plus $250).

any suggestions/ opinions would be great

I got meal plan G (85 meals per semester plus 500$) mostly because you can always add money to the M&G card, and Im not much of a 'meal' person, I tend to snack more throughout the day than eat a certain number of meals.

It depends on what type of eater you are.

Meal plans really depend on what type of person you are... I had the 95 meals last semester and I had about 10 meals leftover at the end of the semester which was pretty much wasted money... I have 85 this semester, so I guess I'll have to see how that goes.

Back to the OP, did you know that you can live in the honors dorms and not be an honors student?

My sister lived in Hayden her freshman year, and she's not in the Honors College. There wasn't many non-honors students, but there were a few. I think as long as you request early enough, you can live in any dorm you'd like to.
