I'd like to be a consultant in the future and knowing my circumstances, my chances of getting offers from MBB or tier one firms are slim. However, since tier 2 firms are still an option what would be the best job that I can use as a platform that will impress these firms? Should I look for jobs in smaller consulting boutiques in my city?
If anyone has any experience with consulting help a brother out.

Getting into a good BSchool post-grad would be the easiest way to get into MBB if you can’t make the cut now. Its difficult to lateral from a tier 2 to MBB firm

I guess I wasnt very concise with my original post. sorry! what i meant was i would like to attract tier 2 firms in the future. I’m not targeting MBB at all. I’m a realist.

hey chrisw, the reason i’m not applying right now is because I go to a non-target school. I honestly want to fatten up my resume so when the time comes I can actually compete and be a top candidate for a position.

You don’t need to go to a target school to get a job in consulting! If that is what you want to do, try to get a job in consulting but also apply to other industries, particularly in fields you have experience-ish in.

Do you know what specific type of consulting you want to do?
