Hey guys I was just wondering, what's the best type of music to listen to while studying? Also, if any of you guys have any songs in particular, I would really much appreciate it if you could share them on this thread.

Genesis - Watcher of the Skies
Porcupine Tree - Even Less
tons more

Old School rap

A lot of Rakim and Eric B lately.

Studying? None.

Doing HW? Blues and Jazz of course. :P

Tchaikovsky’s symphonies are good for getting important work done, but they can be distracting if the work is dull.

I like smooth jazz for more average/boring assignments.

I really love The Curious Case of Benjamin Button soundtrack. It’s so quiet and peaceful, and it always makes me so much more relaxed for some reason. Lol.

Linkin Park’s Numb, piano version. Amazing.

I like classical… but sometimes it gets distracting.

I try not to listen to anything with words. I get way too into the music.

But I love classical… and it’s been proven that people who listen to classical music actually tend to be smarter. At least… I read that somewhere. It like stimulates the brain or something.

Aha!! A report: http://www.classicalforums.com/articles/Music_Brain.html

“It has been proven that learning may be increased to at least fivefold, through the using of this musical style.”

My favorite two EPs usually play on repeat whilst studying: Darren Criss’ Human and the self-titled EP put out by Charlene Kaye & the Brilliant Eyes. Love the songs on those so much, and I highly recommend them to anybody who likes to listen to good music XD Both are alternative pop, so they’re not too boppy and not too boring for good study music.

Hybrid. (an electronic music group).

very moving music yet subtle too.

dubstep

/thread

Black Sabbath – long guitar solos are great for studying.

Classical music makes the best background music. There are classical stations in many cities, and many of them broadcast online (for those who want some background music while working on the computer, I recommend WQXR online).

Any kind of chill, instrumental post rock is great for studying. Some bands I like:
Explosions in the Sky
Hammock
El Ten Eleven
The Album Leaf
Caspian
Helios
Tuung

If i am like trying to study hard for a test, or write something I will throw on sme techno because it for some reason gets my thoughts flowing.

Other homework i will just turn to pandora on a listen to whatev

Yeah. I just go on Pandora and type in Mozart for a channel. Pretty good stuff… and the music is long, so the commercials are less frequent.

John Mayer…all the wayy (:

I usually have a playlist of Radiohead and techno going. It works pretty well for math.
