I paged through a few at the library the first time I took the test, but now I want to improve my scores. I got a 33 on the ACT and a 2200 on the SAT. I'm looking to get near perfect scores (35ish and 2300ish). What books would be the best for this? Some of the books I was reading seemed to be geared more toward people aiming for a 26 or 1700.

Anyone have any ideas?

We have a number of SAT prep books reviewed on our site: College Entrance Exam Advisors and Educators.

In terms of getting a top SAT score, you may want to check out either Barrons 2400 or Kaplan 2400. We found Barron's to be just a little better than Kaplan, but not by much. Also, Gruber's SAT rated well in our review for students who are aiming for top scores.

Make sure you are doing accurate practice tests, so that you have a good gauge of your progress. CB online course is probably the most accurate outside of actual released exams.

Hope this helps,

With where you're starting, I don't think it matters what books you use, personally. You'll get there just by practicing and taking tests.

Best tests for both SAT and ACT are official tests and Princeton Review.

For the ACT I'd say the best book is the one made by the makers of the ACT. Since they are (I think) the only ones who give real ACTs in their test books.
