Best undergrad school to get into law school? Wellesley / Berkeley / Wesleyan / UCLA

Hi!
So I recently found out that I was accepted to several really neat schools as a poli sci major transfer student. I am on the fence between many of them because I do think I would receive a good education at any of them. I was hoping that a few of you might be able to shed some light on what the best choice might be. Ultimately, I would like to transfer

My top two are currently Wellesley and Berkeley (found out today I was a regent scholar).

I want a smaller environment like Wellesley and I had taken Berkeley off my list because of the trouble getting classes/housing/lack of prof engagement, but as a regents chancellor scholar, it seems like many of those issues would be negligible. I also was accepted to Wesleyan and UCLA, which are also both great schools.

My final goal is to get into a good law school, so my question is, given my options, what school is going to give me the best boost to law school?

Any advice at all would be much appreciated!

Those are all good schools. I suggest focusing on determining which is the school where you think you can get the best grades, take the most writing-intensive classes, and spend the least amount of money. Admission to law school depends mostly on college grades and LSAT score and attending law school is expensive.

For prelaw, the one with the lowest cost and highest grade inflation in the courses and major you will take.

http://www.berkeleytime.com has UCB grade distribution information by course. Not sure if the others are available to compare.

It does not really matter. Seriously. @rosered55 nailed it.

Undergrad doesn’t really matter for law school admission purposes. Where you get in will basically come down to grades and LSAT.

Wellesley would provide pre law students the best and personal level support among those colleges.

UCLA . Wes over Wellesley if you want a small lac experience. Welllesley and Berkeley known to promote a stress culture. My opinion.

Grads and parents. I know this is my opinion. Not yours. You made a brilliant decision for youself and your children. You loved your experience and that was just different from my family’s at Wellesley. Berkeley is reputation only. No direct experience

I would go with Wesleyan.

  • Undergrad inst doesn't matter as much as grades and LSAT, as said above.

Wellesley is known for being overly competitive and stressful (YMMV); Berkeley is too huge and anonymous and the campus is a little on the grungy side as the state has had too little funding for decades upon decades; UCLA – like Berkeley in terms of anonymity plus huge classes and too little funding from the state = fewer resources for you. (State capped property taxes a few decades ago and this has slowly bled the UC system dry of funds.)

Wesleyan has lots of student support, in comparison, a nice social-justice vibe; arty students in the mix. Funding to do internships etc. Student support will be helpful for you esp as you will be transfer student. Smaller classes will help. I would imagine that you would have some classes at this school at the higher levels that just have a handful of students.

Best of luck for you.

How about you put off this decision for awhile, study and wiegh the costs and benefits of law school.
