I'm currently working for a top venture capital firm as an analyst with a intention of heading to B school in the next couple of years. Things have been going very well, and I currently have a lot of independence. However, I just got an offer today to join a more prestigious venture capital firm as an analyst. I really like the companies that this VC firm invests in, which is clean tech and life sciences. The firm that I'm working for now currently focuses on mainly wireless technology. I want to eventually work in the clean tech and life sciences area, so this new offer is ideal for me. I really want to take it, but I'm afraid that it'll look bad for B school, because it might seem like that I can't commit to a job. I've been working here as an analyst for a year now, and it seems a bit early to jump ship. It's such a hard decision. I don't know if I'll ever get an offer like this again in the near future.

Can't pass up an opportunity like this. Plus, I'm sure greater passion for your work will shine through in essays. Unless you have a habit of jumping, an explanation that this was a once-in-a-lifetime-chance seems pretty compelling in context.

All this goes out the window if it would be your sixth job in four years. On the other hand, you'd already be a jumper, so what's to lose anyway, I suppose.

You definitely need to make the move. Most of the people I know who have the best resumes are the ones that have had several employers.

Furthermore, you will probably paint a better picture of yourself to business schools if you are able to talk about things you are passionate about (oops noticed bluedevilmike also mentioned that).
