Better prices to live near the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

I´m a future gradstudent in the Spanish Literatures and Cultures program and I´m confuse about the prices. I know that cost of living in Urbana-Champaign is significantly lower than in the larger metropolitan areas. I have visited the page of http://one-illinois.com/ and they have everything you need for aprox $500: furnished apartments, bedrooms with a bathroom. However my question is if I can find better prices. What is a good price for housing in Urbana Champaign: US$500 o less. Help!!!!

What exactly are you looking for? Studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom? Furnished or un? Will you (or do you already) have roommates? Do you have a car? Is economy your only concern?

Craigslist is what you’re looking for.

$300 if you’re sharing, renting just a room, or a ghetto efficiency. $600 for a nice efficiency or single bedroom apartment. $1000 for 2 bedroom, etc. I’d say $500 for rent per person is pretty accurate. If you want to pay less, you’re going to have to lower your living standards just a bit.

These prices are on campus. Gets significantly cheaper the farther you get.
