well i'm taking 6 summer classes right now and 15 in the fall to get to 60 units. I'm planning to apply to ucsb for winter 08. They don't guarantee housing for transfers until fall 08, so is it better to transfer in the winter or fall like most everyone else?

I'm transferring this fall. It depends if you want to get housing on campus...you can always find something in IV though. I personally would wait until fall, just because I think you'll meet more transfers that way...But winter is fine as well, depends on your priorities.

I'd go with the fall, personally. You'll get the housing, and overall the programs for incoming students are more geared towards people starting in the fall. It's not such a big deal, you won't be SOL if you start in the winter, but that's my advice. Also by rushing thru classes how are you going to master the material? The point ought to be not just to get credits, but to learn something along the way. If everything is crammed into your short-term memory for a test and you promptly forget it to concentrate on the next test, that may not be the best approach to spending your college years. Just my 2 cents.

well i'm taking 2 online classes. one of them which starts in november and ends in december, like a 5 week class, so hopefully that won't be too bad. I wish i could of applied to transfer this fall but i had to start with lower math and retake some classes. But not sure if i want to be at a community college for another semester with no social life like in high school. CaliCurls what school did you transfer from and did you get housing?

hey, I'm coming from foothill college. I ACTUALLy did get on campus housing (found out today), but I'm going to live in IV :)

oic, which dorm did you get? and i guess you would rather live in an apartment?

They don't assign dorms unless you sign the contract. They told me that chances would be very slim for getting a dorm (it's a lottery right now, no guarantee). So since the results weren't posted until the 25th, I did some searching in IV, and found a place with people that I liked. It just worked out that way, I wouldn't mind living in the dorms.
I'm living in Manzanita this summer actually, and then moving into IV in Sept.

oh are you doing the summer thing? doesn't manzanita have nice dorms?
