Thank you @Noreplays2018 so much. She really wasn’t pining for Pace. She was perhaps pining for a yes though! She has just had a long string of no’s this second half of the year. Her dream programs were UNCSA and Purchase (still waiting to hear there on Purchase). Also waiting on NYU.
She liked Elon a lot and we’ll go back in April. She will find her place. I appreciate your kindness : )
Wherever our kids end up they are going to get to act, sing, dance, express their creativity and hang out with like minded kids. They are going to forget whatever their first choice was and they will be happy! I really believe that.
Do we REALLY have to wait another week for NYU? I want to get to work on solving the visits puzzle (a show and a chorus trip in April.)
@laylamom Hope to see you in April at Elon then!
@katew529 @laylamom @bretzki5 @Griffilus and anyone else who has been admitted to Elon’s bfa programs (acting or MT) if you hear about talent awards tomorrow, can you post “how” you heard? Not sure how this news is going to come out and whether everyone gets “something” or just a few kids get an award and – regardless – not sure how that news is conveyed. If its thru Acceptd or email or phone call or snail mail. That is a big piece of our particular puzzle.
@MTmom2017 I saw you have a WL at Point Park. I have current BFA Acting major there and I know a couple others on CC also have PPU kids. If you have questions I’ll try to answer. I can tell you that my daughter loves her program, loves her classes and professions and she has grown by leaps and bounds. Good Luck to you all!
@TNTheatreDad WaitList Queen! That’s great - really. You have a great attitude and WL is good - cuz not everyone offered a spot will take it. Enjoy your JMU visit. Heard good things about that one!
Syracuse - no for S. All good. He has other options.
@TNTheatreDad six waitlists for D here. Buckle up for April!
@MomofJ5 I totally feel you on that! I thought I was all set, each of my twin daughters had an acceptance at a top choice, my non-acting major at her top 2 and she said the others were out of contention other than NYU. Easy breezy, hard part done, Biology major twin will visit 2 schools and acting major 1, maybe up to 4 others max once acceptances/denials come in and we’d been on campus many hours during auditions for 3 of those top picks so if we missed an accepted student day, no biggie or she can go without me.
My acting major daughter is in limbo from 6 schools (she only applied to 13 for non-musical acting but film is her preference over stage) including NYU where her sister applied for Biology as well. Only 1 of my acting daughter’s top picks has given any answer yet, the other 4 are all still pending.
My Biology major twin only has to hear back from Pace and NYU (seriously, my acting major got her academic acceptance so quickly from Pace but nothing on her twin for Bio with even better grades, almost matching acting resume, and track cocaptain over her twin without sports).
I was about to book a flight across country (we’re in the Northeast) tonight for the bio-major but she hadn’t RSVPed for a special targetted accepted student event (that even had a stipend for her airfare and expenses) and is now waitlisted for it, so we settled on going a few days before to smaller all-accepted-student mini event (she’s unavailable for the other weekend events) and was going to call to see how long the waitlist is and if she could attend a portion without the overnight… Then all of a sudden all the anxiety about college and decisions hit her at once and she’s all over the place about what she wants to do and if she even wants to visit these colleges (she refused to visit earlier since her twin was mostly waiting until after acceptances for acting colleges).
Hi, I just joined, found you all weds night when googling the mystery number form Pace whose call we missed last week! No idea if it was an alternate admissions number as it was different from the other number that called all week from regular admissions… or FTVC or Biology? But no email or letter that I know of. One of the other colleges should have notified by portal earlier in the month but she didn’t have one set up, supposedly she managed to do that today but had no decision in there that she could find. The other two top picks are not scheduled to notify until this weekend and next… And the other two I think are out of contention on our end but they don’t notify all students at once.
Luckily the school that my acting major already got into, Emerson, will honestly be great for her, it’s not far from us and we’ve already been there for student film work, past tours, and on campus audition day.
They made mom & dad’s life sooo much easier by only one pursuing an acting major! I can only imagine the added stress if the were going up against one another on top of it all!
@TwinGMom I am pretty sure my acting major son is going to Emerson too
I have not opened CC in days. Last night was my son’s last “opening night” as a high school student. He plays the David Hyde Pierce role in “Curtains.” It’s been a VERY busy week. His HS theatre program tends to run very last minute. The set is always WAY overbuilt and not complete. So, the actors only have two days on stage - which means some re-blocking to make the set work, etc. – I work on costumes and attend all the tech week rehearsals to help with last minute fixes, etc.
I’ve missed so much on CC. Hope there have been lots of acceptances over the past week. I need to go back and catch up!
I get the postal services informed daily digest and I saw that a decision from USC will be delivered today. Unfortunately it is a thin letter envelope. Not good news.
I’m just so OVER the waiting at this point! For a long time I was alternating between hope and fear…but now I’m just plain exhausted. Enough already! Who’s with me?
We’re waiting for Purchase and Hartt, and I just want to KNOW so we can move forward with making plans for next year! If they both end up being rejections, obviously we’ll be disappointed, but just TELL us already! What schools are everyone else waiting for?
@actorparent1 I know the feeling. I’ve noticed that The New School hasn’t sent out Regular admission decisions and we got the panicky “a new decision update has been made” email from NYU stating decisions would be made by April 1st or on April 1st (but this information is on their site already so curious about the email lol)
Syracuse will be posting more next week and Suny Purchase has told another friend that they will be using the next 2 weeks to make calls
SUNY, Hartt, NYU, Syracuse, The New School
We have heard from all schools finally, but with the multiple waitlists, we are still in waiting mode too. And we are so ready to be able to make a decision!
For Syracuse, if you haven’t heard, no news may be good news! D got an email late yesterday (5:12PM CST) with a rejection letter attached.
We declined some acceptances today. This process is just as cumbersome! Some make it easy and some don’t. I remember in September that our mantra was “You only need ONE Yes!!” We have been blessed in this process and we hope releasing some of these gives others happiness. And 100% know how crappy that statement sounds to some, but I honestly can’t sleep knowing someone would love a slot my D has decided against. Our final decision is going to be about money received and not about “tier” because a talented and driven kid is going to shine - no matter what.
My D closes her high school musical career tonight. She will be singing Far From the Home I Love from Fiddler on the Roof. Not sure it could be any more appropriate or any more heart wrenching.
@HopeinMT Ugh. Sorry to hear that.
" because a talented and driven kid is going to shine - no matter what" @ginaf1102 Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes! It’s going to be hard for many of us to let our kids go but enjoy every moment. The time is getting closer than we realize
@HopeinMT I’m sorry for the No
