BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@toowonderful Do you mean 7 to 10 days for studio assignments?

Thanks All! Iā€™m excited for my S. did not go in with Tisch being his top school but Iā€™m grateful that he has options. After this experience, Iā€™m grateful that he has at least 1 option. This is a tough program to enter into. It takes guts for our kids and We as parents to even consider going this route.

Duh sorry ā€¦I see that is what you said. What the heck is wrong with me!

@proudcalidad I think so. I am more worried about the mental implications ā€“ after this emotional roller-coaster, I wonder if it would be healthier to commit to Syracuse and just be done :). But that decision is not going to be up to meā€¦ :).

Ty for the heads up! Mine just checked and sheā€™s waitlisted for NYUā€¦ along with CalArts ā€˜waitlistā€™ status and Emerson acceptance it means that sheā€™s already gotten a guarantee at one of her top choices and is still in the running at 2 of her othersā€¦ Wonā€™t be done til May 1st after all! I honestly think sheā€™d be happy at any of the three and each holds some different advantages for her futureā€¦ With Emerson itā€™s near home so she can easily audition, with approval, in the spring for summer AEA roles in the area or it up NY or LA with crash pads open to us in each. (And she can come borrow a car or swap out stuff for her dorm/clothes with just a 40 minute public transit from Emerson. But thatā€™s not a main reason to pick a college.)

(Hopefully CalArts says yes or no sooner than mid-April so that we can get a solid visit in to help her decideā€¦ NYUā€™s just a 4-5 hr drive from home so we can dash out anytime, and if her twin got accepted weā€™ll go together as a family to the admitted student day for a full feel, even if my actor is still waiting for final results.)

@bfa2018 Oh, I feel you. Once D got into her top choice, and mentally committed (even though weā€™re still making her collect info and experiences at Admitted Student Days) it has made everything MUCH easier mentally on her (and us!). All Iā€™d say is to keep in mind that the mental experience of all of this will fade, while the decisions made now will affect the next 4 years (and perhaps beyond), so if sheā€™s really into NYU and wants a shot at itā€¦ ?But as you say, it ainā€™t up to you ā€“ I certainly get that as well. We can guide, we can point things out, but at the end of the day, this is their life, we gotta let 'em live it and support support support!

Hi everyone - I havenā€™t been keeping up but if you recall I had posted that my daughter had zero BFA acceptances and was preparing to head to her safeties. Well we just heard from her last school - and she was accepted into Tisch. THANK GOD ON HIGH. We are beyond thrilled. BEYOND thrilled. Over the Moon. ONE acceptance. But thatā€™s all you need. I was in tears when she called me. I donā€™t even know what to do with myself but it goes to show (for future applicants) - you can never tell, aim for the schools you love, try your hardest and hope for the best. Up until now her application luck wasnā€™t very good but she got VERY VERY lucky today and that bucket of luck makes up for everything else. Alleluia!

@CaMom13 Your post made me smile. Huge congrats to your daughter!

@CaMom13 Congratulations to both of you! That is great news!

So happy for you and your daughter @CaMom13 !!!

This is only my second post but thank you all for the amazing reads. Wish I would have found the group sooner. My S only applied to Tx St(accepted), Pace, MMM(accepted) , and NYU. NYU was a loooong shot and Pace was his first choice. He was disappointed when he received his letter from Pace saying he was an alternate. Well, he just received his NYU acceptance!! Just from reading this board, I asked him to quickly send his thanks but no thanks to open up those other spots. Iā€™m so glad this part of the process is over!

@CaMom13 HUGE congrats! Iā€™m so happy for you both! We were warned that there may seem to be little rhyme or reason as to why the same student gets in at one school and doesnā€™t get in at another, getting rejected by their safe bets and in at their reachesā€¦ itā€™s all nuts but so happy sheā€™s got a great answer there!

@CaMom13 this just feels great. Congratulations!

@CLDMom it was an email that said a decision has been made and to check his portal (his words)

I GOT AN NYU WAITLIST! Iā€™m incredibly happy!

Iā€™m a longtime lurker but brand new poster, and so happy to hear everyoneā€™s good news. My D is relatively new to acting (2 yrs) but has thrown herself into it (straight acting, though she can sing and dance). She was happy to get acceptances (UArts, Marymount, Temple, Hartt, Hofstra, San Diego State) but was holding out for her top 5 choices. That luck ended today with a rejection from NYU. And while she did get a waitlist from her top choice (Chapman) she is quite dejected. Iā€™m hoping she just needs time to grieve and then will happily end up in a program where she can thrive, but my heart hurts so much for her right now - even though she knows she is lucky to have choices.

@takealeap Iā€™m sorry for your noā€™s but wow! your daughter sounds very talented! sheā€™s only been in this for a very short time and is already being accepted into these Audition Schools? Very impressive! congratulations! we have members right now still waiting for Hartt

@CaMom13 Omg, that is awesome!

@takealeap So sorry about NYU. But, your daughter has some great acceptances!! With only 2 years under her belt, she really has done well and should be very proud of her accomplishments!

Hi @ginaf1102 I saw on another post that your D got into Minnesota Guthrie and BU just like mine. Just wondering if youā€™re seriously considering both or if sheā€™s leaning more toward a different program.
