@CaMom13 @heyyme Congrats!!! The best possible feeling knowing your kid is excited and found the place they want to call home! And @CaMom13, can’t even imagine what that was like for her/you – but yes, you only need one, and a great one it is!
@mtmaybe congrats!!!
Soooo thrilled for the acceptances! My s is done and didn’t apply to NYU but I am getting a thrill hearing the acceptances. I do believe our kids go where they are meant to and there are many paths. And YES it only takes ONE!
@emf1959 -congrats!
Thank you for the kind support @actingdreams and @frontrowmama. I hope I didn’t sound ungrateful, I just had “a moment.”
My D also got into NYU which is such an honor, but then I clicked on the COA and it is $79K for next year. How do they justify that? I know it was high going in, thought it was comparable to BU, but wowza! I think it is time to say Enough is Enough with this sticker price. Jeez!
NYU wait list for my s. It is all good because we have our hands full trying to figure out the acceptances as it is!
Thank you so much @proudcalidad, @actingdreams, @TwinGMom, @emf1959, @marg928, @twoboysandadog - we’re so stunned and happy. @takealeap - don’t worry, we have all had our “moments”. We love these kids so much and they work so damned hard at their craft. It’s hard to see them feel at all like they’ve failed. It’s very hard as a parent to have to sit and watch them handle rejection. I am so very happy your D has so many wonderful options and I hope her disappointment doesn’t last long.
Wow! Congrats on all the NYU acceptances! I am happy my son was waitlisted I would be in bliss if it was a yes. I cannot complain though!
I hope they don’t accept WL by alphabetical order. We are a T and that would make me lose all hope. Blah!
@CaMom13 @actingdreams @frontrowmama. I tried to respond earlier but may have messed that up ;-). Thanks so much for your kind words and CONGRATS on your kids’ acceptances. Here is hoping that, regardless of what schools our children end up attending, they receive the training they crave and, more importantly, come to realize that their worth is not dependent on someone else saying “yes.”
Tisch waitlist for my D. Do the acceptances get told which studio now, or does Tisch make them commit first? Anyone know?
@katew529 - hey hey!!! Congrats on NYU WL - fingers crossed for the desired outcome!
@HopeinMT @katew529 and others with kids like mine on the NYU Waitlist… here’s the FAQ that my daughter got and sent to me, should help clear up a lot… But it also sounds like no one gets off the waitlist until some time in May at the earliest, August at the latest… You’ll get your financial aid package when you get offered a slot off of the waitlist and have 72 hrs to respond… So I think that you would want to know if your child really wants to be there and if you are willing to give up a deposit at another college (know how much your deposit will be and what date you want to drop off the waitlist based on your own needs).
Honestly, getting that waitlist really helped get her out of the funk dwelling on the rejections, and it may have helped later tonight when she learned that her twin got turned down for a different major… Helps her realize what an accomplishment that waitlist is and that she still “has it” you know?

@katew529 they will know their studio placement before they have to accept
Congrats to everyone who was waiting for NYU and got good news! Hugs to anyone who was disappointed. Not to diminish that - but I’m guessing your kids have a few good or great options at this point.
What an exciting day on the board! Happy landings to all!
@Atreuh… thank you! My D probably has a different take on it, but for me, the WL itself may actually BE the desired outcome, you know what I mean? Nice validation, none of the bill.
congrats @katew529 It’s still a win, win especially if she comes off rather quickly!
@jbtcat thanks! I hope that he’s offered a good one (but how do we know if it’s good? aren’t they all good ?)
@CaMom13 omg SO THRILLED FOR YOUR D and your whole family! what joyful news!
@laylamom Oh I can’t even go to the high school ex-bf in same theater group conversation ever ever again. And this is just the beginning of those heartaches I am certain. The theater world is soo small. Its why my D (hope she sticks to this) has decided not to ever date within her theater programs ever again or within a cast/show. Not until “after” they can separate and not have to see each other or same friends again. Just way too much drama.
