BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@jbtcat - my D is LOVING stonestreet - the weekly industry opportunities are really cool.

CSUF is a true cut program

In regards to cut schools- Cal State Fullerton is still a true cut school to my knowledge. Have known a couple people who have attended there.

@toowonderful Yes! My D loved it too. She saved it for senior year just because of those opportunities and those connections have paid off (although she is still in the struggling actress stage! but there is nothing else she would rather be!)

Does anyone know if NYU does any walkins in Chicago? Would they be at the Hyatt???

NYU did not have walk-ins in 2014
nor have I ever heard of them here in CC

Thank you!

@fancytheatrekid my daughter is a sophomore at PPU. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Thank you! If she gets artistically accepted, I will @CTDramaMom

@myboy2000 NYU and Yale plus a few others had walk-ins all day when we were at the Hyatt on Wed. This was for MFA though. Im sure there are some cancelations (3 ppl missed the Juilliard Audition) I believe the walk-in fee was roughly $60 for each school that I had passed

This is incredibly helpful. My D is a hs junior (so I am reading and learning from all you wonderful, supportive and good-humored parents). She had been dissuaded from NYU by her teachers because of its cut policy, and that puzzled me since I had heard nothing about that on CC. Clearly out of date. Thank you!

@yorkside -happy to answer any specific NYU questions you have. It can be confusing, (in part b/c their studio system is different than other schools) but also offers some really cool stuff

Great! Thank you

@toowonderful @jbtcat Thanks for the fantastic info! This really does alleviate a lot of concerns! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. Now, fingers crossed for the remaining auditions, then we wait
Good luck to all!

My D auditioned for Emerson at NYC unifieds. They mentioned that at the end of your sophomore year you audition for the BFA acting studio or you can continue in the theatre and performance. Can anyone tell me about the difference? My D auditioned at NYU and loved it
of course. Also, we were at University of Michigan yesterday and are so impressed with their acting program.

@MI3rdClosingAct here is a link that explains the difference. http://www.emerson.edu/sites/default/files/Files/Academics/performing-arts-degree-comparison.pdf

So at Emerson if you audition for BFA acting 2nd year why do they hold auditions for Incomimg freshman? An audition is not required to enter the BFA theatre and performance track, correct?

Edit: never mind i see that audition is now required. Seems that is new as they change and update their programs. Last year may have been the first year they went from BA to BFA in theater studies (can’t recall) and the kids we know didn’t audition for the theater studies (just submitted resume). However they could have auditioned for acting as an incoming freshman.

I personally don’t love this new path. My D would never have applied there as it was BFA acting or bust. Lol.

Wonder why they changed it? They obviously have reasons.

Will anybody be going to the UMinn audition in Chicago tomorrow?

BAL to your D @owensfolks!

Hi @owensfolks - yes. My D auditions UMinn tomorrow in Chicago. Break legs to your D!!
