BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

congrats @artskids and @Naevia now some exciting stuff is happening! hope they have an amazing time

Congratulations, @atreuh, @naevia, and @artskids! BAL!

Congrats to all on the UMinn/Guthrie callback!

Weā€™ve heard nothing since ā€œstill being consideredā€. My daughters play opens that weekend and she would have had to send a video any way. A huge congratulations to all ! Itā€™s a major compliment to be invited and very exciting. Reading about it on last years thread it sounded like a very cool weekend!

That being said I think they should send the rejections already. Is it usual to drip drip dangle kids like this? I guess there is a lot of talk about it in the Green Room. Just rip the band aid. I know that this is what she signed up for but
I think these next 2 months will be very trying : / .

@katew529 - your child was waitlisted at Guthrie already? Never heard of that prior to callbacks. Sounds like they sent ā€œstill under considerationā€ emails - is that was you got?

@ginaf1102 and @actingdreams Hoping you get good news from Juilliard today!

Hi. For those of you sending a child to Guthrie callback, will your child stay in the dorm? Message me please.

Posted this on another board tooā€¦ Great to read all the excitement about UMinn/Guthrie callbacks and BAL to everyone. Let me just say that as a current parent of a UMinn/Guthrie freshman, I do know some things about this program. Iā€™m no expert, mind you, but Iā€™m happy to answer any questions about the weekend, the program, the school, the Twin Citiesā€¦ the weather :-). Feel free to PM me too, if youā€™d rather.

@fourstars my D went to Guthrie callback two years ago. They will coordinate EVERYTHING including where to stay and rides to/from airport. My D stayed with a student in an apartment and others stayed in dorms. They tell kids to bring a sleeping bag. My D didnā€™t need hers but others did need that and a towel! (that was a boyā€¦his student didnā€™t have too much to offer himā€¦lol).
@artskids I get the caution sending her on her own but they do a wonderful job and the kids are busy and with someone the entire weekend. So she will be ok. I had lengthy convo with Deb Pearson (??did I get that name right) prior to sending my D and she made me feel more at ease about it.

When they get to the MINN airport they go to a meeting place and will be met by a rep from Guthrie and go as a group to campus.
Hope that helps a bit.

@FourStars I plan on having my D go on her own and stay in the dorms. It says in the email they may need ā€œfloor spaceā€ - I do hope my child does not sleep on the floor. But she is leaving for college (wherever that may be) in 6 months, so I figure she needs to do things on her own and enjoy dorm life. Thanks, @ThenSheSaidIt I appreciate the help. Did your child go alone and stay in the dorms and enjoy it? I imagine it was good or he/she would be there right now!

Thank you. D knows some kids in the program so Iā€™m not too worried about her once she arrives. I would love a buddy for the flight!

@ginaf1102 She did go alone, but she didnā€™t stay in the dorms because weā€™re local (i believe there were only 2 or 3 last year who were from the area.) Most everything happens at Rarig Center on campus with the exception of bussing to the Guthrie about five minutes away. Like @bfahopeful said, they take care of EVERYTHING from the moment they arrive at the airport. It was a fantastic experience for my D, and if you asked her sheā€™d say she is right where she belongs. Funny how it works out that way.

Congrats, all on the UMinn callbacks! I had to ask D if she had heard anything last night-and she said that she had received a ā€œno longer being consideredā€ email. She seems to be handling it well; but this is a program that I would have loved for her to have an opportunity to explore further. For those that can make it-break legs and be sure to give us a report, and for those who have a conflict-there are definitely video submission success stories!

@bfahopeful Sorry, that was confusing. Her email said that sheā€™s still under consideration (for admission, I believe) and is waitlisted for callback weekend (vs waitlisted for admission).

Thanks @katew529 They are definitely doing things in new ways. Never heard of callback weekend waitlist. Wow! Here is to hoping she can attend.

No callback to Juilliard for my D. We have great options and we are moving forward!

WE made it to Juilliard Final Callback! :((

I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected to participate in The Juilliard School Drama Divisionā€™s Callback Weekend.

@Twoboysandadog we just got the Juilliard Callback email invite (And Thank You) i canā€™t believe it!

@bfahopeful, my guess was that maybe they hold a certain number of callback weekend slots open til after California auditions, and whether or not a student gets off this waitlist might depend how many applicants the program wants to call back after theyā€™ve finished auditions on the west coast.

MN is her absolute dream school (she went for a summer program in 2016 and felt it was a great fit for her) so I am hoping against hope that sheā€™s invited to go. But Iā€™m guessing the movement off the waitlist is minimal, so (like everything in this crazy process) it obviously isnā€™t anything we can count on.

@actingdreams. Woo woo! That is so wonderful. I was waiting too and itā€™s not even my son. Congratulations on making it to the next round. I (am sure I can say We) canā€™t wait to hear all about it.
