@katgirlchicago My son did his Emerson audition on campus a couple weekends ago. What time were you given for Emerson? 1-3 or something like that? My son’s timeslot started at 9 am and he was done at 10:10 am. But, he also volunteered to go in the first acting group and also volunteered to go first with his monologues. If your son does the same, you should have no problem scheduling a third late-in-the-afternoon audition somewhere else.
Hooray @FourStars - so happy for your D!
Someone needs to start an Acting Acceptances thread!
And congrats, @FourStars!
FINALLY! the pre-screens are uploaded.(Nothing like pushing to the day before the deadline!) January & February are sure to be even crazier. Hoping S has the right combination of stuff for a few good schools. Fingers crossed for auditions from DePaul, Ithaca, Otterbein, BU. Already set dates with Minnesota, Syracuse, Roosevelt and a few others. If anyone has updates, please share. Looking for camaraderie on this journey. BAL to all!
Congrats, @FourStars !!!
Point Park/1st audition is done! It wasn’t on campus. D signed in, filled out a brief form and turned in her headshot & resume. They had a short Q&A for acting students (without parents) and then the students signed up for audition times. At her time slot, D did her monologues, then was asked to do one again in a chair and then asked to do it “in a different way.” The whole thing was really quick!
awesome! thanks for the feedback. Good luck to your D getting in Most of her school choices and being able to gleefully choose the one she set her heart on
My son had his on-campus audition at Chapman yesterday for screen acting. He thought it went well, but it was pretty intense! Group warm-up, monologues, improv, and then he was asked to stay back with some other kids (it was emphasized that nothing should be read into this) to perform a neutral scene. He was there from 8:30 until 1! He should hear back in a couple weeks, and we’re really hoping for good news because my son loves that school and program.
@Twoboysandadog That all sounds pretty positive! I know you are not supposed to read into it, but it still feels good to be worked with, for the most part. Wow, I did not know you would hear back from Chapman so quickly, that is cool. Sending positive energy your way!
@FourStars Thanks! If you pass the prescreen and can attend the December on-campus audition, then Chapman will let you know mid-December. My son was in the morning session, and he said most people were local to Southern California. I suspect most out-of-state applicants just wait for Unifieds.
@jenniferm1973 , you can set up an audition without having your acceptance. My dd applied in either August or September and received her admittance letter in the beginning of December. Contact your admissions counselor for updated information if you’re concerned about them having all of her information. They can probably tell you when their next review date is.
@GloriaVaughn In the initial “We have received your application” email, it said next steps were to wait to receive academic acceptance and then schedule audition. I will look into it now, but I didn’t see anywhere on their site to schedule. My D also applied in early Sept. Thanks so much.
@katew529 Heard back from Temple. They said there are no video auditions allowed and that whoever provided that info may have confused the MT prescreen with a video audition. Auditions for Acting are on campus only.
@Twoboysandadog, my daughter was at Chapman as well on Saturday. That was indeed an incredibly long and intense day! She also got asked to stay behind and do the cold reading. She’s wondering if she actually worked with your son. There were only 2 boys during the cold read, she said. I’m glad to hear that we might hear back in just a couple of weeks. Chapman has moved from the bottom of her list to the top now. She was very impressed by their program, and so was my husband. I’m hoping that if she gets into Chapman, she’ll be willing to cancel her audition at Michigan in January. It’ll save us so much stress and money.
@FourStars, you mentioned that your email confirmation from UNCSA didn’t say anything about a meeting and I said mine didn’t either. It turns out that my D didn’t forward the email that said “check in is at 8:30”. Based on another post and that email, it sounds like the informational session is in the morning and then we are free to leave after the individual auditions.
Yes, I got two emails from UNCSA: One of them confirming the date, location, and time of check in. Secondly I got an email confirming my exact audition slot time. That second email said that the audition/interview would be approximately 10-15 minutes, and then I am free to go. The first email has the following information:
“A required information session will be held promptly at 2:00 PM for approximately 30 minutes. You should arrive approximately 10-15 minutes early to check-in. After your audition, which should last approximately 10 minutes, you are free to leave. We do not hold callbacks.
Please bring a copy of your headshot-photo and resume to give to the faculty when you walk in the audition room.”
@mychildsslave I sent you a DM.
Hey you guys! I know this thread consists mostly of acting parents but i thought i’d post anyhow. I submitted my prescreen for depaul before the priority deadline of december first, on november 22 which is almost two weeks ago. i am biting my fingers off in anticipation, i havent heard anything yet:( for anyone who has submitted to depaul around that time, have you heard back yet? was their response quick? i am so nervous!
hi @mtgirl135. I’ve read that some took only two days but I’m assuming that they may have received many towards the end of the deadline. I would email them just to confirm. Also, you can call, they are Extremely nice people. Check your spam mail. Schools were out for Thanksgiving and I’m guessing you should hear from them this week. I would call. It will not be held against you but more like how excited you are to audition for them ( a plus)
