hi @techmom99 we’re auditioning for Suny Purchase Theatre/Acting program as well as 5 add’l new york schools, Mason Gross, CMU and De Paul. Just hoping to get into an amazing program
Hi! Regarding Ithaca PreScreen results, it took us 3 weeks to hear. I think it is perfectly fine to call POLITELY and inquire what the turnaround time is for PreScreens. Sometimes they jump in to look up the student, and sometimes they just give a generic answer.
My son visited Purchase with my adult D. It’s about a 40 minute drive for us but they took public transit. Although he liked the campus okay, he had heard from a lot of people that the programs are very cut throat. Nonetheless, he applied and got an academic acceptance to the non-audition performing arts BA. Since he isn’t interested in acting, he was supposed to do the supplemental app for the theater tech BFA. It required reading a Tennessee Williams play. For my severely dyslexic son, reading a play on top of taking 2 AP classes, was just something he didn’t want to do, so he never finished the application. He is a freshman at SUNY Fredonia and really likes the program, except for the drafting class. He says it is very collaborative, at least in the tech department, and there is no reason to believe the acting (they have straight acting and MT BFA programs) are otherwise. The campus is actually quite lovely and walkable. It was a private college for over 100 years before joining SUNY. It is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but that isn’t bothering my son.
Has anyone received confirmation of an audition time for USC? Their website says applicants will receive an email with their assigned audition day & time “after December 1.” It’s our last piece of the puzzle for Chicago unifieds and will probably have to move flights and other auditions around it, so hope to hear soon.
My son also just got turned down from DePaul. Has passed pre-screens for Carnegie Mellon and Syracuse and is now submitting to PACE
@Naevia I have not heard back from USC yet either. Hoping to hear soon. I have also not heard from UCLA, but I believe that they start confirming auditions after December 15th.
@Naevia No word from USC here either. My son plans to just audition on campus so I’m not that concerned. But, if we were doing Unifieds, I would be pretty frustrated not to have it scheduled by now.
@Naevia and @Jamesdm25 Hi! Likewise, I am waiting on auditions for both USC and UCLA and have not heard anything. Also waiting on University of Michigan. Those are the three that we really need to do in NYC, two are at Unifieds, one is a different weekend, but in NYC, so really hope to hear something soon.
@FourStars, @Naevia, and @Jamesdm25 - My son just received the email from UCLA inviting him to interview/audition.
Hopefully I will get it soon!
@Twoboysandadog, that’s awesome news!!! Maybe we’ll hear from UCLA soon too? @FourStars, we heard from Michigan in early November (after submitting EA) to set up the audition. You might want to call their admission office?
@Jamesdm25 @mychildsslave – I should clarify that he applied for the Integrated Studies track so maybe notifications were sent first for that group? The email included this info about scheduling:
Interview/Audition sign-ups will begin December 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM (PST) and close December 20, 2017, 11:59 PM (PST). Interview/Audition Sign-ups will resume on January 4, 2018.
@Twoboysandadog @mychildsslave @jamesdm25 So funny, my D just got the UCLA Theater audition sign-up link, too. We wanted NYC on 1/20, so I can share that there are 30 morning slots and 30 afternoon slots that day. We took afternoon and there are five booked for afternoon. If you want to know any other dates/availability, lmk. It’s through GetAccepted. Re:UCLA, I was always kind of unclear, does everyone with a complete app get to audition?
With UCLA, my understanding was that they won’t ask to see you if you’re a definite “yes” or a definite “no”. So if my D doesn’t get contacted by them, we’ll have to wait til late March to hear the result.
@FourStars do you think there is a reason I have not received an email to schedule an audition yet? I am also applying to Theatre. Also what time are the afternoon slots?
@Jamesdm25, don’t worry too much yet! My D hasn’t received anything from UCLA either. The theatre website said they’ll contact you by 12/14. They also said an acceptance doesn’t always require an audition.
@mychildsslave yes you’re right. I’m sure I’ll receive an email soon
For UCLA, NY auditions are two sessions, morning is at 10am, afternoon is at 2:30pm.
It’s funny that I can’t seem to sleep, yet I’m not the one going to college…
anyone heard from USC for audition dates?
