Biased

This forum is great for killing time while waiting for results to come in, and wondeful at raising anxiety levels... but how accurate can our assumptions really be, basing them off of the responses we see here?

There are many factors that can throw us off. Let's discuss some variables that can screw us over... :P

just to start off with a few:
-im guessing only 1% of applicants actively participate in these forums
-only the most anxious people would come to this site... probably over-achievers or those who really care. (hence probably more likely to get in than those who don't care as much)
-speaking for myself, once I get my results, I will probably only post it here if im either super pleased, or super disappointed....

anything else?

Are we overly obsessed? Yes.

For a forum with such minimal activity, I check it far too much.

plus, most of my friend do not know that there is such a site.

so when you saw those super-high-GPA-who still saying oh gosh i’m so gonna screwed people, do not panic.

1% of applicants? why do you think its that low? well I think there should be a rule that whoever participates on these forums we can get admitted to whichever UC we want, that would be great.

lol that would be nice…

wouldn’t that also defeat the purpose of this forum though?

the purpose being WORRYING about our apps? :P

I’m gonna post the results of applying to schools regardless of if I like them or not. Kinda feel like I owe it to this place. Don’t see many super disappointed people on this site so I’m leaning towards most people here are overachievers.

One more thing, the more I have looked at people’s stats and the more I have talked to people at my cc I have realized one basic thing. There aren’t many factors that change your application. Other than personally knowing the President or curing cancer, it’s pretty tough to be a super stand out beyond your gpa.

It’s kind of nice to know that everyone’s worrying in one place. Besides, these forums can provide insight that you may not think to talk about with your counselor at CC or incorporate into your transfer future. I like CollegeConfidential. Worry and anxiety may infect every board on here, but I think it’s worth it.
