Big Envelope

My D who is awaiting her ED notification for Dartmouth got a big envelope(9"x11") in the mail today from them. She is at school and I am going crazy! She'll be home at about 4:00 from track practice at which time she was planning to go online to check. Did anyone get this letter today?

My mail's not here yet ... but they just sent it out yesterday morning! That would be incredibly fast. Do you live in New Hampshire? I don't know what it means, but if you're pretty sure its good news (I can't see why it wouldn't be), maybe she'd like the good news at school. [Lucky me, I had a day off and can suffer this at home.]

Burlmom, sounds like good news (I hope, I hope i hope.) Is the envelope kind of thick, a little sturdy?

It would contain folder with congrats letter, certificate, financial aid award letter and info on financing a Dartmouth education.

I am smiling to my self as I am typing this. Really am looking forward to meeting you and Cangel in Hanover.l (I still have to meet Casey and Ohmadre before our kids graduate in 08)

We live in Massachusetts. The envelope is thick and a little sturdy. Unless I am hallucinating, I think I can see through the envelope and the first word says congratulations.
My D would not want to know the news at school. I think I may be able to wait four more hours.lol.
Sybbie, this is great my D (she's Viewer) and I already feel like we know so many people connected to Dartmouth from these boards. How crazy is this? I got the mail called my H at work and then got "on the boards". It's hard to tell anyone else because I'm not really sure and my D doesn't know!!!

Actually, the envelope is postmarked the 7th.

wow... gratz... what are your daughter's "stats"?

Burl,

YEEAAAHHHH, WOOOOOO, :) :) ;)

CONGRATULATIONS and BIG HUGS (AND YOU WERE EVEN FIRST!!!)

I am sooo happy for you and your family. She is going to love it. I down loaded the Salty Dog Rag for my daughter (because they learn the dance at the Doc trip).

You should really try to get her to Dimensions in april so that she can bond with the 09's. Maybe one of the students will put her up. The 08s have been really great about putting up the prospies.

The great thing is "What are your stats"? will never matter again.

When I get home I am going to try to send you a private message.

My D just called me from school. She read this thread in one of her classes and couldn't believe it. I really can read through the envelope and it is an acceptance.

Sybbie, thank you for your kind words. It is very exciting! I'm sure we will have many questions for you over the next few months.

Davidrune... her stats are 1600,790,770,730 2/250 great ec's.

I GOT IN!....yea.......big envelope.....11:35...went home for lunch and surprise surprise

I GOT IN! Envelope is big but somewhat scarily thin!

Congratulations Burlmom!

congratulations everyone! looks like dartmouth's the fastest this year.

burlmom, now your daughter has a really interesting story to tell about her college acceptance. :p imagine her telling your grandchildren about this when they apply to colleges.

Oh man, lots of people getting in... makes me unsure about my chances... 3:00 please get here soon!

Thank you. I'm sure she'll be on here this evening chatting with you guys...her new classmates!

I don't even know you, my D is not applying to Dartmouth, I stumbled into this thread and I am SOOOOOOOO happy for you all tears are in my eyes!!!!!

Wow how wonderful. Mazel Tov!

Has anyone found out online yet?

Burl,

you gotta tell the parents. Iam so happy for you I am ready to burst but I don't want to give your news.

it gets there so fast because acceptances are sent via priority mail

Burlmom...I remember you from earlier this fall. I am so happy for your daughter!! It all worked out for her.

It is pretty incredible that she found out about her acceptance envelope by reading this forum! The modern age.....
Enjoy the moment...
Susan

DD wants me to tell how I learned she was accepted. I had just about decided the news was bad because I hadn't heard from her, and it was 2:45CT. THen she called from school and said "I've had the most awful day of mylife..." I began the condolences in my best Mom voice, then she said "and yours is going to get really bad, too, because now you have to pay big bookoodles of money for me to go to Hanover" I started screaming at work.
