Big Interview Problem

Okay so for a certain college, that will remain nameless, I asked for an alumni interview in my home town. I was assigned to a man that lives in my town. BAD NEWS: I already know the man, and he and my dad have never gotten along. (We used to live in a cottage on his property when I was little, and then he and my dad got into a fight, huge mess.)

So what do I do? I obviously can't have an interview with this guy. Should I call up the school and ask them to assign me to another person?

haha, what a funny situation! I'm sorry, but yeah if I were you I would call the school's admission office and explain your situation. If they don't buy that, just say you can't reach your interviewer and they'll assign you to another interviewer in the area.
What a funny coincidence....

hahaha dengg... ask for a different person

Definitely call the regional folks and explain that you already know your interviewer and don't think you would get a fair hearing. If you're in a relatively well-populated area, it shouldn't be a problem for them to reassign you.

Do not go into the details with the admissions office. Simply call the admissions office and tell them that you and your family know the interviewer and you prefer an interview with someone who does not know you.
Interviewers are not supposed to interview those they have a social or business relationshp with. I would however not give details of the dispute

BTW make the call as soon as possible, as in today. If you wait the other interviewers may have full schedules.

Just realize that depending on where you live, there may not be other alumni interviewers for that college. However, not getting an interview for the reason that you describe probably wouldn't hurt you as much as interviewing with a person who may hold a grudge against your family. For example, I know that if it's not possible to find an interviewer for someone, Harvard doesn't hold it against the applicant.
