Hi there,
I was recently accepted to UCLA and upon talking with my mom about next steps including high school and college transcripts, she asked how I go about obtaining them from a prior community college I attended. Problem is, I failed to include that school on my application. It was 17-20 years ago and I genuinely forgot I had even enrolled and registered in classes there (I never actually attended class so the grades consist mostly of Ws). I am now extremely concerned about having my acceptance rescinded since it may appear that I intentionally left those off. I am calling my admissions officer tomorrow, but wondering if anyone has had experience with a similar situation.
Call right away. Schools have access to a National Student Clearinghouse to get info on what colleges students have attended.
I believe that the main issue here isn’t whether it looks intentional or not, I feel like most people would believe your claim that it was just an honest mistake, since it was abnormally long ago. The main issue here is whether it’s just Ws or are there letter grades on your transcript? The UCs tend to look at Ws as benign for undergrads, so they might be willing to grant you mercy there. But if you got any letter grades, then that could be bad news, since that means your GPA is higher than it should’ve been.
There are plenty of people who forgot to report Ws, and I have yet to see a case where someone got rescinded for it. Though that doesn’t mean it’s never happened, I just personally haven’t seen any cases of a rescind due to Ws.
You should call admissions right away and report it. These types of things can be grounds for rescindtion.
