So here is the story.
I SIRed to davis and have been set on going there,
but recently i’ve thought about going to UCR.
UCR has actually extended their deadline also, so i am able to still SIR there.

the reasons im considering UCR is that my ultimate goal is to transfer to USC or UCLA for business, and I think it would be easier to transfer from UCR then from UCD, because UCR has a lower curve and such.

also, UCD doesn’t have a business major or programs…

other reasons i am considering UCR is that i feel more comfortable here…i live about an hour or two away and i dont want to move 8 hours north where i have no friends.

but then again, the new experience would help me grow.

also…transferring is no guarantee, and if i had to be stuck somewhere, id want to be stuck at UCD. and i worked relaly hard to get into a school like UCD…it seems like it would be a waste to just go to UCR, where everyone got accepted.

can i get people’s opinions on this? i only have a few days to make up this tough decision that will posssibly change my life =/

this is just my opinion but i would say stick with UCD. i am kind of in the same shoes as you because i want to ultimately transfer. I also wanted to go into business. but for now i will study econ which is still a great major. also the thing about feeling like you have no friends at UCD, that's normal. you will make friends very quickly and it will be a nice memorable experience :) wish you the best of luck!

I would stick with Davis. I currently have a friend who's at UC Riverside, and I keep hearing from her how it's very hard to "move up the UC chain".

I don't know much about business and economics, but aren't they kind of similar? I don't think that you would have much of a advantage for transferring from UCR to UCLA/USC than from UCD to UCLA/USC.

UCD is a great school, and I agree with the others that you should start there. I think you will make new friends within days/weeks and settle in. Eight hours drive is not so far by CA standards. Sometimes Southwest sells tickets from No. to So. Cal for $44.

My daughter is an aerospace engineering major w/a 4.0 UC GPA. She was rejected at UCD & appealed & won her appeal @ UCD. The 6 wks between being rejected & accepted pushed her to apply & be accepted at UCR & their honors program. My daughter spent an overnight w/a student in the Pentland dorm & took a tour of the campus. We were surprisingly impressed w/UCR's campus & what they can offer students. UCR is definitely worth a looksee & more research. The staff we interracted with were very helpful. We even had set up an interview w/an engineering professor so my daughter could get a better idea of what she should be majoring in (since aero isn't offered @ UCR). Don't be discouraged by the reputation of UCR being a lower tier UCR. They have topnotch programs. UCD is a great school, but if you know where your heart is, then follow it. You are the one who ultimately decides what kind of education you will get. Good luck to you!
