So here is the story.
I SIRed to davis and have been set on going there,
but recently i've thought about going to UCR.
UCR has actually extended their deadline also, so i am able to still SIR there.

the reasons im considering UCR is that my ultimate goal is to transfer to USC or UCLA for business, and I think it would be easier to transfer from UCR then from UCD, because UCR has a lower curve and such.

also, UCD doesn't have a business major or programs...

other reasons i am considering UCR is that i feel more comfortable here...i live about an hour or two away and i dont want to move 8 hours north where i have no friends.

but then again, the new experience would help me grow.

also...transferring is no guarantee, and if i had to be stuck somewhere, id want to be stuck at UCD. and i worked relaly hard to get into a school like UCD...it seems like it would be a waste to just go to UCR, where everyone got accepted.

can i get people's opinions on this? i only have a few days to make up this tough decision that will posssibly change my life =/

If my ultimate goal is to transfer to USC after a year or two anyways, wouldnt it be better to transfer from UCR where the curve is significantly lower?

AYEITSJ: You won't be stuck at a CC. It's waaaay easier to transfer from there. Just plan your schedule accordingly. Get the IGETC and the prereqs done. Earn a high GPA, which is VERY easy, and turn in your UC application next year(depending what your major is, if you can get your prereqs done in time).

You'll be fine. UCR is almost a guarantee from a CC. UCI is the second up.

I also know someone who goes to UCR and they like it there too. Why does everyone hate on UCR? I know they're not the best of the UC's, but you will still receive a good education there. Have you even visited both campuses? Because from what I hear Davis is a really boring place to live. But don't stress, just choose whatever your heart tells you. Don't listen to what others say because you are going to be living there for two years, not anyone else.

UCR extended their SIR deadline? Really? What date did they extend it to anyways?

I think it's good to hear everyone's input, but only to a certain extent. I think that you should only get advices from someone that went there.

As a student at UCR, you can expect generous curves most of the time but it still really depends on the professor. Humanities classes usually don't get curved much, it's the science and math classes that get them. My physics courses had 60% as passing.

UCR does have a business program but you'd have to start out in pre-business and finish some courses til you start the official program.

I think it's pretty easy to transfer out of UCR, as I have 3 friends who are transferring out with me. Me and 2 friends are going to UCSD and another is going to UCB. Generally, I think everyone at UCR wants to transfer out really.

I myself once considered UCR/UCD as prospective schools to attend after high school.
But... I made a better decision. That decision was to attend a California community college and I'm transferring to Berkeley in the fall. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life.
I have numerous friends who believed community college to be a joke and an embarrassment. Some of those friends go to UCR. Most of them HATE it. They regret not going to a CC. I'm not a student at UCR, but I mean, come on... it's in Riverside. Is that really where you want to spend your college years?
If you're looking to transfer, attending a UC as opposed to a CC is just plain STUPID.
Save your money for grad school.
