How useful will a skateboard or bike be on campus. I’m wondering which one I should bring since bikes are easier to ride, but skateboards are much more convenient to bring around.

Bike… the roads are too filled with potholes and too hilly to use skateboards to actually get around.

Being a college, there are bike racks just about everywhere.

Bikes again. Be sure to buy a U lock, to lock up your bike and a helmet too.

Going up hills would be a huge pain in the butt with a skateboard.

Is it necessary to have a bike? I was unable to visit campus before coming this fall so I have no idea…

It definitely is not. I would say the majority of students do not have a bike (or car). Most buildings are close enough together that it is easy to get around on foot even in winter.

I think we’re all missing the obvious:

Skateboards are cooler than bikes 90% of the time.

Haha I don’t think I’ve ever seen a skateboard at Brown.

I have seen a few skateboards and boogie boards. I think a bike is a good investment to have, there is so much more to Providence than Brown and a bike is practically a free ticket to exploring Providence.

I see more people using longboards to get around, and skate boards to just hang out and jump stairs.
