bikes on campus

I was wondering if a bike would be useful on campus or if having one is not necessary.

Thank you so much for your help.

For your first and second year it's not really needed since you can get around campus fairly easily and quickly without one. There are a lot of places to store your bike on campus, but you'll want to invest in a good lock and not every building may have bike racks immediately nearby. A lot of people who live off campus and many graduate students have bikes. You might want to find out if your residence hall has a bike rack, because leaving it outside all night can rust a bike pretty quickly.

Keep in mind that if you'll be living on campus, you'll be living on a hill. So using a bike to get around campus isn't very common with undergrads/underclassmen. However, I suppose a bike could come in handy if you miss the Joey and need to get to Davis, or if you want to go on a bike trip with friends on a nice, sunny afternoon.
