I was thinking about bringing a bike down to UT, and was wondering if there is a "safe" place to lock up my bike. I have quite an expensive bike so I wouldn't want anyone stealing it or the components off of it. Can we bring them into our dorms?

Anything expensive is going to be risky. Just bring 2-3 sturdy locks and secure it onto a rack. There are racks for bikes all over campus and some specifically for private dorms. I know Dobie has their own bike rack outside next to their building and it looks safe to me.

As for bringing it into your dorm, not sure. I would think you can, but it would be such a hassle.

I am 98% sure you can’t bring it in the dorms (or any building). Unless you sneak it in.

And it wouldn’t fit in your room anyway. There would be absolutely nowhere to put it without it being in the way, especially if you have a roommate.

Honestly if you are super worried you could just buy a cheap bike and leave the expensive one at home.

I agree with setphasers - probably best to leave the good one at home and get a cheap bike for the first year. Then if you move off campus you can bring your good one with you where you know you can bring it into your apartment to keep it safe.
