Billing Balance on Oasis - what do these things mean?

"The credits for amounts we paid are definitely all there."

That's interesting, both the updated bill she received at orientation and what I saw on Oasis yesterday don't have her housing deposit, just the commitment deposit. (We do have the cancelled check as well as the postcard from housing acknowledging receipt of the deposit.) I was wondering why that wasn't reflected, but I also noticed that as of yesterday Oasis just had her tuition and miscellaneous fees, but no room and board...

Well, hopefully everything will be clear over the next few days and we can wind up getting all the financing organized. :)

CORRECTION: merit aid will be posted, atleast it is for me....

my housing got charged and University Grant got credited. when does parking get charged? i already recieved my permit, but no charges yet.

Yea my mom said everything showed up.

Our complete statement showed up on Oasis tonight, yay!

The only problem is that there is no reflection of a credit for the $400 housing deposit. Has this shown up on other people's accounts on Oasis?

I'm also missing the housing deposit...along with trojan meal plan, parking permit, and a scholarship. Hopefully everything is posted soon so that people who are taking out loans can do it in a timely fashion.

I'm in the exact situation as margaritasalt17. I need the Trojan plan, permit, and my Robert Byrd scholarship.

I may have found the answer to the housing deposit being missing from the fall bill on OASIS...last night I reviewed the housing contract and found (P. 13) that the housing deposit is credited toward the room for the last month of the school year, assuming you have complied with the contract.

Still, you'd think they'd list it as received, maybe with a notation "To be applied spring 2007," particularly for those people who are trying to crunch numbers and calculate what they'll need to come up with for the entire year.

My son didn't get one of his USC-awarded merit scholarships yet. It would be nice if they did write something about the $400 housing deposit we made toward the kids' housing somewhere on the bill, you're right. I'll ask them about this when I call tomorrow to ask the cashier's office about son's unposted scholarship. <sigh> This is getting OLD!</sigh>

Good luck on getting the scholarship money posted! Please let us know if they have any sort of additional info on the housing deposit being credited. Thanks!

There have been a number of times recently I've realized anew how much we've learned via C.C.! This site has been so helpful over the last few months. Thanks to a link here I just printed up the fall examination schedule so we can calculate when our daughter's break will start in December. :)

PBK Mom: I feel the same way! A lot of kids from my high school who are going to USC with me have no idea what's going on, and I can answer a lot of their questions. It's pretty awesome.

About that $400 housing deposit we sent in: I think we are supposed to look at it like a damage deposit. If there is no damage at the end of the year, you get it credited back to the student account. If there are problems, you only get some or none of it credited back. I think I read that here somewhere....

Anyone else questioning the Orientation fee? I thought that we paid that back when we registered for Orientation.

My understanding is the "Orientation" fee is a poorly worded fee for all the welcome week activities, not the summer orientation you already attended. I'm surprised it hasn't already occurred to USC to change this word to prevent confusion -- hopefully in future! :)
