my situation is very similar to shinywing’s, except that they bill me $7120. how does the title IV Funds work actually? so the Federal Pell Grant, Stafford Loan and SEOG are not credited until the 16th???

Correct - The earliest federal grants and loans can be credited to students accounts is ten days before classes begin.
The earliest federal grants and loans can be credited to students accounts is ten days before classes begin. Classes begin on August 23rd, so the earliest any of your federal aid will credit to your accounts is August 13th.

It will take a few days for everyone’s account to be credited, so yes, the 16th seems a reasonable date to expect your funds.

I do not know exactly how much your individual charges will be - I have no idea if all of your room and board have been charged, if your health insurance, tuition insurance, football tickets, parking passes, deposits to discretionary accounts, etc. have been charged. Only the two of you know exactly what is on your bill right now, but yes, your federal aid will credit against whatever charges you have as of today plus everything that is applied to your account between now and then.

Just had a thought - some of you seem unsure if those grants and loans have credited -

Do all of you know that when you are checking your balance due, you can click on “Transactions” to see exactly what has been credited and debited against your account? You don’t have to guess if your loans and grants have been credited - you can just look at the transactions. Your last 30 transactions are always available there and older transactions can be viewed on the statement on which they appeared.

My meal plan and all University charges (I’m pretty sure) have been credited to my bill. I then subtracted all my financial aid that hasn’t been processed to figure out my bill/refund.

So for you,
$6096 (University bill as of now)
-2750 (Federal Pell Grant)
-2750 (Federal Loans)

- 550 (SEOG)

$46 university bill.

That is IF all the charges have been processed. My housing, meal plan, specific course & lab fees, student health services fees, health insurance, norman topping aid fund, etc. have all been charged and are shown on my transactions page. Therefore, for you, it is not realistic to set up a payment plan.

Also, if anyone was wondering about the 800$ housing Confirmation Payment that was made… It appears that they just added it to my university bill. I didn’t have the 800$ to pay for housing, so the University just put it on my bill, and credited back 400 for the first semester. So, this semester I will pay the 400$ and get a 400$ credit again next semester. This is probably how it works for anyone else who didn’t pay the 800$ housing confirmation.

If anyone else needs help let me know, it’s finally clear… The bill page is very misleading so go directly to your transactions, and view every single one.

I was charged $20,192 for "UnderGrad Tuition, Flat Fee Fa2010 ", and an addition $1,360 for “Undergrad Unit Rate Tuition Fa2010” (possibly because I’m taking 19 units)

Just to clarify, tuition is $20,192 whether or not you take 12 or 18 units? Any more unit addition will be $1,360 each?
