<p>I'm currently a frosh at Geneseo.. and suffice to say I've been miserable. I got into Bing and am thinking about transferring for fall '07.</p>
<p>I know comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges, but I'd just like people's general opinions regarding Bing. My friends there tell me it's pretty much the same, just bigger.</p>
<p>the real question is what has made you miserable at geneseo and what you think will make a college experience more positive for you. i forget where, but somewhere else on this forum there was a geneseo vs. binghamton thread and a which suny is best thread -- the only definitive thing to come from those threads is that "which is the best suny" is a very personal matter. it would probably be more helpful if you describe what you are trying to get away from or what you are hoping to find.</p>
<p>well i did join a few clubs but they never really panned out for me after first semester. it's harder than i thought to make friends, people aren't as approachable as they seem.. so i'm basically looking for a more involved social life. i'm not all about partying, but it would be nice to actually do something on a friday night instead of moping in the dorm haha.</p>
<p>in regard to academics, i don't really consider geneseo THAT great.. personally i think they were kinda exaggerating because the workload is similar to that of high school. plus, a lot of people haven't really heard of geneseo.</p>

<p>I was at bing for two years.... pretty cool place, but like u said about geneseo, the propaganda the school spreads about its rigor/prestige is completely untrue. It seemed as if all you needed was a pulse to get into the school. Anyway, i tend to assume the academics are pretty similar between the two. You shouldnt have much trouble making friends at Bing, lots of clubs, ppl are generally approachable, ... just stay away from mountainview if ur a transfer, .... i suggest trying to get into CIW or Hinman os those are corridor/ very social. LOTS of partying, im sure there are those that dont, but hey, its a SUNY, the great majority want alcohol, and alot of it.</p>
<p>There is not too much that is actually bad about Binghamton, i just felt the need to get out. Im considering geneseo, emory and a handful or other private schools if i can get some kind of scholarship.</p>
<p>I have to ask, since im considering geneseo, ... is the school at large unsocial and unfriendly? anything else u disliked?</p>
