Im a molecular bio/biochem major at Berkeley and i was wondering which classes people are taking their first semester. I was thinking of taking chemistry 001A, but i hear chem is a difficult class that should be taken after getting used to college life, so im not sure about taking it freshman year, 1st sem. I'm going to CalSO on Fri. where im gonna sign up for the first 10.5 units. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what a biochem major should take? thanks.

Well... if you're going to be a biochemistry major, might be a good idea to get intro chem out of the way. Do people at Berkeley usually take organic chem second term freshman year? You certainly need to take intro before organic, and organic is pretty fundmamental for molecular bio and biochem.

Check the website for that major on the Berkeley website, there should be a sample schedule that should help guide you.

I'm a biochem major at UCSB. First year I took my whole chem and math series, and this upcoming quarter I am starting O chem, physics, and bio. Get chem out of the way your first year.
