Hi,
I'm very interested in biology and want to eventually study towards medical school. However i'm not sure what I should major in. What falls under the studies for majors in biological sciences versus biochemistry?

Advice? Thank you!

To go to med school, you need to take the pre-med course series (general bio, general chem, organic chem, general physics, calculus, etc.) You can major in whatever you want to (English Lit, Nuclear Engineering, Math, Fine Arts, or even Biochem) provided you make certain that you fit in the pre-med series.

what is the biggest difference between studying biochem and biological sciences? and what about majoring in biology? isnt biology alot like biological sciences?

The term “biological sciences” is a very broad one, so you have to figure out what the person who used that term means by it. Did you find it in a college-matching search engine? If so, it is used to create a search category for many different fields of study - in other words, it is pulling together just about anything related to the study of living things.

Well I’m doing my college apps right now and its listed under majors to pick from, along with biochemistry. Some have biology and biochemistry.

Since the college you are looking at offers all three majors, you really do need to look at the specific course requirements for each. That will help you decide which major might be a better fit for you.

Good luck!
