how strong is the Biology major at BU? Is it worth 20k a year? My goal is to go to medical school.

bump…

any1?

There have been other threads about this subject. Look them up. You might also look up pre-medical advising at BU. They have a webpage.

is pre-med treated as a major at BU? I’ve really read into it, and it seems that pre-med is an addition to curriculum that pertains to your major. So, two questions:

1) Can you double major in, say, Physics and Psychology, AND do pre-med
2) Can you join the Seven-Year Liberal Arts/Medical Education Program as a freshmen? Or is there only one final deadline?

Yes you can Double Major and do Pre-Med. It is a track, well basically it’s like a Minor if you think about it. You can be a Dance/Dietetics Major and still do Pre-Med.

The answer to your second question is no. You cannot apply into the SMED program, if you didn’t originally apply. They go through many interviews at BU and it’s med school, to see if they are fit to be future doctors and what not.

As said, pre-med is just a bunch of requirements that med schools have, almost all basic sciences and labs. You can not only double major but you can double degree - whatever the acronym for that is now - and do pre-med.

If you do the med path regardless, it only takes a year more than the 7 year program. Granted, you must also be accepted into the program later on, rather than now.
