Birth Control Glasses

ive heard that people who have to wear glasses get issued hideous glasses, but when do we get them? Do we have to wear glasses that they give us or can we wear our own somehow? What do they have against contacts… it seems like contacts would be less in the way (but not less complicated i guess). Ive always been confused about this. Also, i heard that they give us shots while we are improcessing, but i went to Africa and might have recieved alot of these shots…will they know about them? or will i have to get them again…oh the horrors…lol jk

Yeahh... I'll have to wear BCGs. It sucks thought because the rims get in the way of my vision sometimes. I mean, I can't even wear them when I drive. It'll suck going on the monkey bars with them. I really want to wear my contacts, but it doesn't seem like we have a choice.

I am not sure but I don't think contacts are allowed during BCT, but during the school year you may wear the BCG's, other glasses, or contacts.

You'll wear BCGs in BCT. There are several reasons I can think of as to why you have to wear them during BCT. Concerning wearing those glasses opposed to your own, it is one of the many ways that will let you know you're in the military and don't always have a say in the little things. it is also for standardization. BCGs are actually very durable and more like goggles than typical glasses so they'll protect your eyes more. On the contact issue, you won't have time to mess around with those. When you get to Jack's Valley, it is especially dusty, which would not make for a good combo. BCT in general is not a very clean time, so you don't want to be touching your eyes anyway. Pink eye is also rampant some years. One reason you wear BCGS is NOT for looks. But seriously, when you're running through the assault course covered in mud, are you really going to care if the guy/girl next to you thinks you look attractive? ;)

About shots, the Academy will have your shot record. However, throughout your time here, don't be surprised if you get "duplicates" of some shots. I don't THINK it will kill you.

After BCT, are we allowed to wear our civvy specticals?

Yes, you are.

Are we allowed to wear our contacts/own glasses during the Acceptance Day parade or do we still wear BCGs that day?

You most likely will not have gotten your personal stuff back by then. There is a chance, but you probably won't know until that point in time.

There seems to be ways to get around BCG's if you are truely opposed to them. My roommate is an example. Don't count on having anything other than BCG's and you'll probably not get that stuff until day of acceptance or day after.

Like UN said, the pink eye is really bad and contacts only make that worse.

Personal stuff depends on your BCT cadre. I had my stuff the night before acceptance parade, but that is rare.

Why are they called Birth Control Glasses, other than the name works with BCG? The cadet i had lunch with also refered to them as Birth Control Glasses.

So thats why they mentioned pink eye in the edodo.org's "falcon love song", again, something i didnt get but maybe do now!

because no one will want to have children with you while you are wearing them.

got it...
(attempting to make message longer so CC boards will not yell at me)

Also they don't want people wearing contacts because it puts you at a higher risk for eye infections and among other things, pink eye, like they said. I would think your eyes would also get really irritated and the contacts would just make that worse.

hahaha nice euphamism Zero

What kinds of shots do they give you while inprossing?

Would it be a problem to be allergic to penicillin???

seems like everything. myth has it that there are also anti-arousal shots for the guys.

That's realllly funny lol

lmao, zero, you crack me up.

So who says they just shoot down the guys? that is not very realistic.
