What is the difference between the two?

Biz Econ has tougher prerequisites and higher GPA standards and supplements some accounting classes to the Econ curriculum

[UCLA Department of Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/bizecon.html) – BizEcon: 11 courses for major not including Econ101.

[UCLA Department of Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/econ.html) – Econ: 9 courses for major including Econ101.

As a result, in addition to what’s mentioned above, it typically takes longer for BizEcon students to complete the major requirements for graduation than Econ students do.

And most of the BizEcon students will also minor in accounting since there are many classes overlapped in both fields. For Econ students however, since it’s easier to graduate, they are likely to do double major to make themselves more competitive. Ex: Double major in Japanese and Econ, etc.

For classes wise, BizEcon majors are given priority permission to enroll in Econ106 classes. But Econ and potentially other major students are allowed to enroll in Econ106 classes as well during the second pass.

These are the stuffs i can think of with regard to the difference between these two majors…

Hope this helps
