Black Friday deals (and Cybermonday, too!)

Yeah, I try not to but printed tops at Costco that too many others will likely also have—my sister said the kids she tutored noticed she got a lot of her clothes at Costco, likely same as their mom.

Per the Kohls online comments, GV jeans are wildly unpredictable on sizing…. even within the same style.

We kid my D’s BF that all his clothes either come from the college athletic department (and he graduated 6 years ago) or Costco. He had to buy a real suit for a wedding this summer. Not from Costco.

Avoided the whole month of Black Friday impulse shopping. But for some reason Cyber Monday is tempting me… maybe some last minute Advent calendars will be on sale.

Reminds me of a wedding I attended in the early 80’s. The GF of one of my H’s fraternity brothers wore the same dress as me, but we each tied the waist sash differently. I didn’t care - I considered it a good sign that someone else liked the dress enough to buy it. She didn’t feel the same … she loudly noted that she tied the bow the right way.

They are on sale at World Market, including the Bonne Maman ones. I got my daughter a cute countdown calendar that is a Mid-century modern house with a car (a '57 Chevy?) that you slide across the house toward Christmas. There are also other houses you can buy to make it a mid-century modern village. She really wanted a mid-century modern house but couldn’t afford it. Next home maybe.

I think my big cyber monday buy is going to be a carpet shampooer for her (won out over a lawn mower or an epoxy garage floor kit)

I’m now thinking of buying some couples gifts that are 20% off on virginexperiencegifts.com.

Anyone with experience? I’m particularly interested in NYC.

@himom, I just took a look. Interesting! About a zillion years ago, long before he went back to Israel and found his partner for life, I gave my friend a 30th birthday helicopter ride. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! I don’t think they are allowed to go over midtown Manhattan like we did. Of course it cost a pittance way back then–must have been 47 years ago!

This:

offering choices seems like a great idea.

MoMa had several advent calendars for sale on its website as did someone else. Now just to remember which site…

I’m thinking of buying a pastrami box from Katz Deli–will put it in my basket and see if they have any sale for CyberMonday. No extra charge for shipping to HI–YAY!

I don’t need more workout wear. Really, I don’t, and yet I have succumbed to the temptation of Athleta.

So each of my s’s previous Dyson vacuums died, and both decided they needed a new one (they said so old they couldn’t even get the battery pack replacement). So I got each of them that Dyson v11 extra, and by purchasing through Rakuten I get 15% back on each one, and by using the deal I put on my AmEx (I hadn’t even remembered I did this) I get 2% back on amex. But it looks like the microsoft took/applied the cashback (overrode the rakuten). Grrr

Well, great day in the morning!! Now it looks like I may be getting both the Rakuten and Microsoft cashback!!! $152 just hit my Rakuten account!

I ordered the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer for D2. It was $299 on Amazon and a couple of other places and this seemed to be the best deal around.

I bought a Southwest airlines ticket yesterday. I got a reminder of their cyber Monday sale this morning. I rebooked the ticket and saved $70.

I bought a bunch of Hanna Andersson stuff for my newborn nephew (in 6-9 month size since I know there’s always too much newborn stuff) and for the daughter of my late friend who came to the breakfast after my daughter’s wedding and who is pregnant, due in the spring.

Where I’ve shopped today… (I basically did very little other shopping prior to today and won’t do much brick and mortar shopping)

Rifle Paper Company - DIL loves their stuff and I got some desk accessories (she’s WFH now) and these cute sandals https://riflepaperco.com/lea-trio-sandal

JCrew for PJ’s - love these green ones!

Target has the 2nd generation AirPods which son prefers 38% off, $79.99

Eddie Bauer for a deluxe lunch box for son…and I’m looking at a Coach Outlet bag for him for a graduation present since he finishes his Master’s next month!

As mentioned previously, if you’re a Rakuten member be sure to look for $% back today because some of the %'s are pretty decent.

If you are near or frequent a Panera, through today you can get their “Unlimited Sips” (hot/iced coffee, sodas, flavored teas - and more I think!) 3 months, $3/month.

I happen to work at a place that has an onsite Panera so this can make my morning coffee super convenient even if I just use it 1-2 x a week. I put a reminder in my calendar to cancel prior to the date it goes back to $11.99/month.

www.panera.com - look for the “Unlimited SIP Club” - I can’t provide a direct link cause I’ve already signed up!

Offer expires TODAY.
