I was selected for the LEAD Summer Business Institute at University of Pennsylvania this last summer

Im looking to study international relations and economics, and hopefully somehow tie in latin american studies and african studies. Im also very interested in the middle east, and I want to learn Arabic in college, on top of the Spanish I already speak.

So whaddya think?

umm....first of all if you werent an URM you would already be a very good candidate...and since you are an URM you are like automatic acceptance

Yeah, you're in at Princeton. In fact, I'll place my money you'll be accepted at any college you apply to, whether that be Yale, Harvard, Stanford etc.

1500 hours... holy crap! How long have you been volunteering, where do you volunteer at, and how do you find time to do all this service?

Definite acceptance.

need a safety? let it be princeton.

O.O"
Impressive! The only thing that will hinder ur acceptance into princeton is... well, probably if you miss the deadline. Otherwise, I'd be glad to even shake your hand!

And my sincerest hope that you can recover fully from your injury.

all in all, thumbs up

thanks alot guys....your support means ALOT to me

ive been volunteering with my city since about the 6th grade...the hours I've racked up though are only from 9th grade until now... i was at city hall almost every day after football practice during the season till about 9pm, and in the offseason id be either coordinating an event (youth conference, with 450 attendees, community leadership awards, a huge local dinner party for about 350 ppl to honor community leaders, w/local celebrities helping to emcee and so forth) till 6 or 7 when it was crunch time. Also witht he youth link board stuff, i would have to pore over all of these budget sheets and ranom "forensic accounting reports" because I served as chairman of the finance committee before i was chairman of the board....and alot of money was at stake we had a revolving budget every year of near 140000 dollars, and reserves of close to 200000 thousand.

once again thanks to all who replied u guys r awesome!!

110hrs*6 weeks [plus preparation: about 80-120 hrs at all]

100hrs*1,5weeks [I worked as a custodian on cub scouts camps. We had to be with the kids 24h , and slept 3-4 hours a day. That's why these number are so big. It was admitably very tiring.] [about 40-50 hrs of preparation]

Charity action: 9hrs*3 days + about 10 hrs a week of preparation for 4 weeks.

3 weeks in sealarium of Sea Station og Gdansk University - 68 hrs a week.

Cub scouts troop leading: 3-4 hours a week for meetings, and about 2hrs of preparation - about 70 weeks , and later helping my auxilliares.

Taking a part in fund raisings, writing letters for AI, on other small things: hmm. 40 hrs?

And maybe tutoring peers? I never treated it as a volunteering, it was very informal.

Accuracy: +/- 15% - about 1600 hrs, in 9-12 grades.
I do not know if I count it properly, but this volunteering was not that hard.
If You like social work, there is no problem - in such a case hours are dependant only on Your energy.
If I made some major errors, don't be angry, I have never been in US, and I do not know what is considered a volunteering. If You will count it for me basing on this data, I would be very happy :).

All in All, ethioman00 You are high above average of people that do volunteering, as I saw on this board. It looks that You simply should be admitted. Write Your essays, and go to Your clubs to start inspiring members. Good luck, really, although I am applying there too. :) :) ;)

Thank you for responding my board, ethioman00. I wanted to return the favor, but I can see my work here is cut out for me. Yeah, you definately are a great candidate for Princeton. If you write about your injury in a serious, introspective tone, you should be able to gather much favor with the admissions board (especially how you got to walking again). I wish you the best of luck, although perhaps you don't need it.
