^ umm anywhere you want!

no really lol like where do u guys think i would fit with my interests

I hate saying any of the Ivies, because they are all so different, but Economics is a pretty general subject, so...all of the Ivies....if you really really enjoy Econ, the University of Chicago has one of the best programs in the country, Northwestern also has a great Econ program. I don't really know about any of the other subjects and what schools are good...

If you like Cali, UC-Berkeley has one of the best Econ programs in the country as well.

aight cool

what about international relations?
or finance?

Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, Johns Hopkins.

Penn has the best business school in the nation, arguably the world (Wharton) if you want to do finance. MIT, NYU, CalBerk and U-Michigan are also top-ranked B-Schools...but I'd be careful with the last two, cuz you dont start taking business classes until junior year which is kinda lame.

bumpity scrumpity fo fumpity

IR= georgetown

Best of luck wherever you decide to apply, chances are you will get in most everywhere!

With your interest in International Relations and in languages you ought to consider Princeton's Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Besides I hear the campus is beyond description.

skittles mcbutterpops!

have you applied for this year or are you applying next year?

Stanford is full of African Americans who scored 1500+. I seriously doubt only 70 African Americans scored above a 1500 in the nation. I know 8 so far and I don't meet tons of people. Two of them are in my dorm.

I'd say everything looks good except for the GPA.

The concern from the adcoms will be why it isn't higher esepecially given the excellent SAT. They might feel your ECs got in the way of your school work. It's a valid concern and one I hope you explained in your essay.

And being that you are black will probably tip the scales in your favor, it shouldn't, but it will.

You should be proud of the stats you have but I hope it is based on merit and not skin color you are offered a place at Stanford.

I'd say you'll definitely get in! Good luck. Where else did you apply?

"I'd say everything looks good except for the GPA."

I'd say 3.86UW GPA with 11 APs and top 10% ranking is fine (especially with major injury/surgery/recovery in the middle).

"You should be proud of the stats you have but I hope it is based on merit and not skin color you are offered a place at Stanford."

That's a really mean thing to say. He is obviously well qualified regardless of his race. And I hope he will never have to hear from someone like exilio that he got in because he is AA.

nngmm,

First off, you are wrong.

It doesn't matter what YOU think, it matters what an adcom thinks. And when they see 4.0 and greater, a 3.86 UW isn't going to make them stand up and take notice..it simply won't.

Secondly, what I said was factual and not mean. I would not want to be picked for something because of someone I know, a donation, or my skin color..I want to be there because I earned it. And when did I say he wasn't well qualified? He made race a determining factor when he mentioned it in his posting.

Obviously you are ruled by your emotions and can't look at the bigger picture. When we no longer have checkboxes for race, or look at people in terms of skin color or gender, then we will have progressed. Until then, we will have bleeding hearts like you impeding progress under the guise of being progressive.

I admit, I did expect your stats to be lower because you are black. And I'm ashamed of the fact that I assumed that because I'm a black myself... :(

"When we no longer have checkboxes for race, or look at people in terms of skin color or gender, then we will have progressed."

I guess we will have to wait.

lol sorry to unleash another AA debate...

i applied this year, and yeah, i missed more than a month of school due to 3 very painful surgeries (I may have two more to go as well). I had a 3.95 before my injury, and recieved several B's my juniro year because of all the school i missed and the time/intensity of physical therapy just to get some semblance of a normal life back.

in addition, i cannot lift my left foot due to the nerve injury (i severely stretched my peroneal nerve, the condition is called foot drop secondary to peroneal nerve trauma), so I must wear a brace on my foot to walk, I can;t even walk fast, and I am not able to run at all.

also, rooster08, that statistic about 72 blacks scoring above 1500 is from an article in the washington post...give me a day or two and I will find you the link...its really no lie, the scores are that bad. They break down something like this:

1500 72 kids 1450 192 kids 1300 1866 (somewhere in the high 1800s) kids

hmm whered yall go
