Im looking to study international relations and economics, and hopefully somehow tie in latin american studies and african studies. Im also very interested in the middle east, and I want to learn Arabic in college, on top of the Spanish I already speak.

Chances for these schools

Harvard
Princeton
Yale
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
Northwestern
Stanford

Dude, you're still going to get in... because you're still black and have good scores and accomplishments. So... good job!

i think you're in. you sound like me but with much more community service and that kind of thing. you seem like a strong candidate at the schools you selected, and though i dont want to play race into the whole thing, i think that will help you out. just some advice..you don't want to go to princeton. other than that, good luck.

p.s. sorry to hear about the injury but i dont think that will hurt your chances

lol why no princeton? the woodrow wilson school sounds cool.....unless im totally wrong?

Even though I just read a post by a guy with similar stats and stuff (also black) that got deffered by Harvard EA, I think you'll make it there and everywhere.
P.S. You should go to Reed.

You should go to Wharton.....
lol

You are Ivy League material, regardless of your race. But being African American pretty much makes you a shoe-in at most universities, inculding the lowe Ivies. I would say you have a very good chance at Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Stanford too.

youre in.....i wish i were in your shoes

Here's the stats of someone I know who got in EA to Harvard. He was black also...
GPA: 3.71 unweighted, 4.2 weighted
ECs: Eh, he was the president of one club, a member of about 5 others. Hockey... Community service and whatnot. Nothing stood out, quite frankly.
Recs: Amazing
Essay: Amazing
SATs: 1430

of APs taken: 4

Well. ::coughs:: I think you know where you stand. :D

i would say, even you are a Asian male with this stats, you have a 50:50 chance.
and you are black, so i say you are in.

yea, you won't have any problems at all

man, your community service records looks really hardcore awesome. sorry i don't know anything about chances... but I just thought i'd compliment you on that. ooh and i wanna learn arabic in college too! Ignoring race, i'd bet you get in. the most it seems like that'd do for someone as qualified as you is add an extra degree of certainty, considering other people i know that got into those schools. anyways, good luck!

yes, explain your community service to them fully.
they will love it. 1500 hours is 187days*8hours a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol i never thought about it that way daijiang...i just spent inordinate amounts of time organizing city events for youth, and countless friday nights (i know, FRIDAY nights) coordinating the safe rides program... and somehow, when they tabulated everything since freshman yr, it was like 1520 hrs...also, do u think i have a shot at the huntsman program at penn? or should i just stick with wharton?

5 people at my school got in to harvard EA. None MIT though which is weird....Last year 8 got in to MIT total, 10 the year before that...

? bumpzors?

You'll have a terrific chance at ANYWHERE you apply. If you want to do the Huntsman program, I saw go for it. You'll probably get in. With your stats and hard work, I think it'd be unfair to limit yourself.

NEW SAT II's!!!!!

790 Writing
740 Math IIC
700 US History

any opinions different w/the new SAT IIs? thanks so much for your help - im freakin out here my good friend from my summer program just got REJECTED EA at Yale his stats were 1420 SAT, 3.86 GPA unweighted 10 AP classes and really really good extracurriculars lots of comm service...and hes black...shows u aff action may not help as much as we believe it to...
