Micheal Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City and Billioniare just donated $100 million to Johns Hopkins University.

Great news for Hopkins, seems like Bloomberg has a lot of loyalty to his alma mater and definetly is a big philanthropist.

One little question I would ask him is why not donate money to Harlem, Spanish Harlem, BKLYN, Bronx or South Queens??? I mean he is the mayor of New York, or better yet why not donate some money to Baltimore in general. But hey regardless of all that Bloomberg is doing some good.

Hopkins will pay for a new childrens hospital center, stem cell research center, and undoubtly fix up things around the school plus leaving some over to its endowment.

Hopkins also bought 2 new residential buildings and "has no plans" for them so far, but they will probably be dorms sooner or later (4 years housing on campus for those who want it.) Hopkins also is building a new "quad" with a new visitors center and a "biocomputational" building and is just about to finish up 2 brand new dorm buildings for juniors/seniors who want it. This $100 million, a new hospital, new research centers (this does effect undergrads especially those who want to do research...) This is an exciting time to be @ JHU.

Oh but on our little Homewood campus it's like a small liberal arts college. We have just over 4,000 undergrads and ~ 1000 grads (I may be off a bit) so it feels small but JHU reaches wide...
