Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan UCI

When checking my awarded financial aid for UCI, it read that I qualified for the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan. However, when I checked zotportal to see if the cost was covered, I see that it's still charging me about $800.

My question is, Does the Blue and Gold Opportunity plan cover all of the system wide fees ,and if so, then why am I still being charged? Also, if I pay the costs right now, will I be reimbursed for it later?

How much money in grants did you get

What it shows in your FA package is what it pays for. If you are concerned, I would contact the FA office.

I received about $9,700 from UCI for the entire year, which will be divided evenly every quarter, and I had a $500 scholarship. Both of these items have been credited to my account, and I’m left with $775 dollars left.

But with the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, shouldn’t the last $775 be covered?

I’ve already tried calling the office of financial aid, but there’s no way for me to talk to a person or even leave a voice mail.

We had that same issues with another UC.

The answer we got is that the Blue and Gold pays for the tuition, but not all of the systemwide fees. So there will be a gap between the amount of the award and the total you will have to pay. It was about $500-800 for us.

^^^

Right…

The B&G promise doesn’t cover the additional fees, room, board, etc. I think it only covers the basic UC fee (don’t remember the technical name). However, I thought that the basic fee was now over $10k…but I could be wrong about that.

I could be wrong, but I think it covers the basic system-set UC fee, but any fee that is unique to the school is not covered.

Oh, I didn’t realize that the registration fees had fees that were unique to UCI, so they don’t count as a system wide fee. Well, thank you for clearing all this up crizello and mom2collegekids.

Actually, there’s an issue I found after reviewing the costs. Tuition costs 3740, I’ve been given 3,075 from UCI, and 524 from my scholarship, and all together I’ve been given 3,599 for tuition. That still leaves $141 of tuition cost left.
