bob jones U

is that a real U? i can't find it on college board's site or on this site

i don't wanna go.....just wanna know if it really exists

Yes, it exists. It's in South Carolina. My IB English teacher went there.

<a href="http://www.bju.edu/%5B/url%5D">http://www.bju.edu/</a></p>

It's world renowned. A major competitor for the top 5 universities in the world.

its not on college sites bc its NOT ACCREDITTED. they are accredited by the unforgiving god who hates all and president george w. bush.

No...but they're trying to be accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.

<a href="http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/11497624.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp%5B/url%5D">http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/11497624.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp</a></p>

NEVER HEARD OF IT, and I HAVE RESEARCHED SCHOOLS THOROUGHLY. I KNOW A LOT ABOUT SCHOOLS, probably more than the average employer. I would advise you to go elsewhere. Be aware of schools that give out diplomas like free paper, and they are just money suckers, and a degere from these places means NOTHING.

its important to note that attending a university which is unaccredited means you will be ineligible for federal/state loans or grants.
If you decide to transfer your courses will not be transferable to another school.

BTW
Bob jones is pretty well known after Bush gave a speech there and shortly after ended their ban on interacial dating

there well known for several things.. none of which involve academics.

you can read a rather humorous account of it in Al Franken's Book "Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them".. he went with his son on a college visit there.

they just recently ended a ban on interracial dating
men and women arent allowed to leave the campus together
absolutely no PDA (public displays of affection).. no handholding, kissing, hugging and so on. I think i heard they even have bans on what times of day men and women can eat together. If you want to go on a date, it has to be on campus, and chaperoned.
its over 90% white, as you can imagine.
mandatory liturgies/prayer sessions at least once a week

the only similar school i can think of that is accredited is Liberty Univ. in Virginia... the school that Jerry Falwell founded (i think liberty has most of the same rules... plus a ban on the tellytubbies.)

[url=<a href="http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/rhall.html%5DThis%5B/url">http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/rhall.html]This[/url</a>] (read what not to bring) is one thing they're known for. The school scares me quite a bit, though, but the bit in Lying Liars... was rather entertianing.

The rules at Bob Jones

Here's a few:

Abercrombie & Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of antagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions. In protest, we will not allow articles displaying their logos to be worn, carried, or displayed (even if covered or masked in some way).

Residence hall students may not watch videos above a G rating when visiting homes in town and may not attend movie theaters.

All weapons must be turned in for storage. Trigger locks are required for pistols.

who would chose to go here?

go to Rice lady, at least you will get a FABULOUS education, only problem, getting in.....

fun fact - my dad's relative got kicked out of bob jones for playing, in the middle of the day, Christian music too loud. funny, eh? :)

Bob Jones is a joke, but just to let you know, there are conservative Christians here who would go to schools like Wheaton. ...like me. Bob Jones is a terrible example of Christian education. But there are those of us who, though being in full support of interracial dating, wouldn't mind, and would actually welcome, mandatory religious services and bans on drinking.

Those rules (G movies??) are hilarious, though.

I am a Christian (and proud of it), but I believe BJU unfortunately oversteps its boundaries. I've heard of colleges having student car restriction policies due to parking problems (a la Stanford), but that thing about only being able to drive home is ridiculous. And no hugging the opposite sex? Ummm...I (a female) hugged my (male) pastor at church this morning -- trust me, there was NOTHING inappropriate about that!

Rice is nerd school, i would never go there....curious y did you bring that up bball87?

As a Bob Jones graduate, I feel particularly offended by the slanderous remarks that permeate this thread. Bob Jones is a leading institution in higher learning. So what if you have to be accompanied by a host on a date. DATING IS WRONG!!!! Any contact with the opposite sex is heathenous. Moreover, you all would be lucky to receive an invitation to join the entering Bob Jones class of '09.

Good day and God bless you.

Amen.

anyone find it sophomorically amusing that the website is bju, as in BJ U?

which is scarier? bju or byu?

Oh, definitley BJU.
